auxsunna jackson add some cameras that has an angle to the room door to the shelf and the shelf and make it the same color and drill a hole in the wall and make the camera flush with the wall so it is not sticking out and a computer or a device that can access the camera and then u can watch the intruder so if it's same to come out. if you use the door a lot, the wheel might mark the floor and give someone a clue to the true nature of your shelf. Also, you could add a hanging weight to the latch to make it close instead of having a stiff wire push the latch closed. This would also make the book return to it's resting position automatically.

I’ve no plans to do this but it was still an absolute joy to watch. And respect for showing the mistakes and how to fix them. I’ve been thinking of installing a sliding door in the room I hang out in. But since the room is smallish, a sliding door next to my favourite seat wouldn’t feel cosy. So I have been thinking of hanging a bookcase in place of a door. I intend to put large wheels on it like you did, but I’ve no idea how to hang it. I know you can get those barn door fixtures. But they’re not exactly discreet. Since the bookcase is full door height, it would be easier if it could slide to one side for ‘opening the door’ so to speak as opposed to opening and closing it the usual way so things don’t fall off. The other reason is it would open close to the kitchen door and just feel claustrophobic and dysfunctional. For that reason I prefer it stays in the room as just glides to the side. Any suggestions would be welcome. Thank you. PS. The bookcase wouldn’t be flush with the wall. But would look like how you normally put it against a wall.

I'm 12 and my dad said I was too young to make this. I was determined to prove him wrong. I headed to home-depot, my goal was at least get wood. I grabbed one slab of wood from the shelf and it hit me straight in the face I get up and grab it again and I ended up tripping over it. After finally taming the wood I carry it to check out and I placed it on the counter and the woman there asked for ID. At this point I said "Screw it, I'm building Legos."

+Tre ore nononononono you open the door to see DARKNESS! And there should be a wired screen at the very back that suddenly turns on automatically from the latch. The screen glitches and reveals a voice "W-e-l-co-me-" in a really glitchy voice. That would be interesting.

Wow, this is so cool Bob! Great job! I am so disappointed my house doesn't have a passage to make this happen.

I Like To Make Stuff, gotta agree, this is an awesome idea, and you make it look simple. I'm considering replacing my -garage- shop door with one of these now.

A bedroom with no closet. A strange void where a closet ought to be. Hmm, kind of suspicious.

Cool project! I appreciate you showing your mistakes! Getting comfortable making mid-project adjustments has helped me start (and finish!) a lot more projects.

I think the combination of the project itself and the hidden hangout space is the coolest thing I have seen in a long long time.

I’m selling a place with 2 hidden rooms I built into the property. Not telling anyone they are there. But I will leave a nice little note for the buyers once they take possession. Imagine that instead of every potential buyer knowing there is a secret room(s).
