How to make a Sensory Bottle | Easy + Quick | DIY

Also known as 'Calming Jars', these bottles are great for helping to calm babies and children, as well as sensory stimulation for children and adults with Autism and other Special Needs.
Instructions/Ingredients:
Clear Bottle (I used a 1L bottle)
Glycerin (I used about 20ml)
Food colouring (Just a few drops)
Sequins
Glitter
Water beads
Lego or other small toys (optional)
P.S. I got all of my 'ingredients' from Amazon

I use this for anxiety and this works so well and help calm me down! It once even stopped a panic attack.

With the coronavirus now I have to teach preschoolers some crafts online, this will be perfect for them it'll calm them down and distract them while they're quarantined away. Beautiful! Thank you.

Tip:if you can’t get the water glycerin you can use vegetable oil mixed with water, still works just have to use a little more food coloring to get the color to stick.

I used to like doing that when I was little I used to beads in a water bottle and fill it up I didn’t have sensory problems or anything I was just creative and artistic that’s why I liked doing it

I've made these with my young students for a few years now. I jut love doing it at he end of the year to have something cool to take home. Going out now for materials! :)

You can also use food dye and cosmetic Mica powder. That'll make a rheoscopic fluid!

@@tulip11512 Yes water colour should be fine - glycerine or baby oil will help things float slowly in the bottle 🙂

This is very helpful for someone like me to have ADHD, this can calm my temper, and reduce stress and anxiety. Thank you sooo much!!! I stress out and cry easily I always have panic attacks and fiery temper. This can help me even more because when I’m about to scream from a temper tantrum Instead of screaming I go to my room and sit on a bean bag and I can play with the bottle and calm down!

I love this! Everyone else say glitter glue or other stuff I don’t have! Anyway I wanted to know if I cud substitute the glycerin oil for just regular vegetable oil or something like that. I think it’s probably the same idea just a different color but if I’m using food coloring it shouldn’t matter right? Please let me know.

Hi! I've never used vegetable oil for this as I think it would give it a yellowish colour but baby oil definitely works!

I bought the glycerine but it didn’t do anything other than make the beads, glitter and orbeez float to the top. Trued again with just water and it was fine nothing floated the movement was the same :(

Can anyone explain why I should use vegetable glycerin? I have a large bottle of it, and I'm not against using it... I just want to understand why it would be used. Is it used to thicken the fluid? Thanks in advance.

It's supposed to slow down the stuff in the bottle, basically, making it fall slower

Question you said the more vegetable glycerin you put in the slower it is. Do you know about how many minutes it takes for everything to settle with just the 20ml ?

Little Learners hey again!😁 I just made my sensory bottle I put 3 Lego bricks in a jar of water and 2 marbles!😂😂😂😀 I love it so much!!!!! Thx for uploading this amazing video!😄😄😄😄 And I had to put salt in to make the Lego move slower it works so well!😁 So glad I found out salt works out too! I also didn't have food coupling so I used light blue mouhwash!😂😂😂😂😂 Lol ! Thx anyway it looks great, it's helping me when I get depressed now I finally have a way to calm down!😊😊😊😊😊😊 Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will need to shake them every so often but depending on how much oil you put it, the contents will move slower and slower.

Hi! You might need to adjust your water-oil ratio. When you shake it it should all move around, when it is left for a while it may collect at the top until you shake it again.

I wanted to add, that I used this coupled with the ole stand by “Time-out chair. My kids held the bottle while in the chair and couldn’t get up until the glitter reached the bottom! Kill 2 birds as they say. Shuts them up and calms them down AND makes the bad behavior stop. (For that minute anyway 🙄)
