I am a white woman with pin straight hair and this is the second time watching this video all the way through. I'm fascinated with black hair care and your techniques. If I went back to school it would be to be a hairdresser but I would love to specialize in black hair care I don't know if that's possible but probably in this world the way things are today. My sister is a professional hairdresser. I wish I had her schooling as well as yours. Keep up the great work. Labor of Love. Discipline.

That's AWESOME! I love how she so freely shares her expertise for others such as myself (an amateur) and yourself (a professional) learn so much to safely care for our hair. I watched this video and rewound some parts to get a good understanding to improve my 'no so much' silk presses. 😂🫣😔 I don't do it often, only to trim it. I mainly wear my hair curly.

I was raised in an orphanage in Cincinnati Ohio, and the older girls had to help do the little girls hair but back then we had to use a flat iron that we put on a hot plate to heat them. I was always scared to death that I was going to burn them. Praise God I didn't. Donna From Shalimar Florida

If she wants to teach and explain what and how she does it to people out there, that's not an issue. By doing this, she can gain alot of long term clients, you have to have a 'business head' know how to gain clients who can trust you. Not only clients to show others what and how to do, who tend to do nonsense on people's head. Miss it's not only about being a money grabber. 'Learn to eat little and live long. My mother was a hairdresser back in the day before and after perms came in to fashion. She use to put the pressing comb on the stove to heat up and she told me that it's not the teeth (as in the comb) that presses the hair it was in fact the back of the comb. She was known for styling and press and curl (again the curler was put on the stove) and the pressing would last for 3 to 4 weeks. Also she did not put any hair oil on the hair whilst pressing it but would put the curler into the Dax hair oil in the red traditional tin and once the hair was curled would greese the scalp prior to styling. The end product was so shiny and silky.

This was such a good video to watch. Particular useful for me. I live in England and i don’t live in London or near a big city where Blsck hair salons are located. I drive to London every 2 months to colour, condition, shape my natural 4b/c greying hair. Everything you used in this video i have put in my amazon basket and i hope i’ll be able to maintain a professional look in between my salon looks. I last had a silk press over a year ago. And the heat damage was severe. The hairdresser broke my natural curl bonds and my hair was weak and straightish for months. But i used the Olaplex system and no heat for 6 months. My hair has recovered well and is now healthy. I want a silk press again, but i’m going to do it myself, Following the steps you used with your first beautiful client. Wish me luck. 💕

I could just watch this all day Long. I love watching women of color getting their hair done. It intrigues me and it always comes out so pretty. Y'all are beautiful. I'm freaking Casper. I could glow. Wish I could get a tan of some kind. Y'all are just naturally beautiful. I have to pay to be colored and y'all have them natural curves everyone dies for. The hair is just the icing on the cake. I just think y'all are so beautiful!!!God made beauty when he made women of color.

Exactly. That was NO a common thing where you had heat damage. What it is is all these new products that are put on the hair so much that either when it gets into contact with heat like that from a metal object it causes a bad reaction or the product by itself would make the hair looser and limp, esp if that is what it was to do(curler, smoother, silkener, moisturizer, etc). Sooo many products are being used much more today than in the past. I use about 3 products on my head now. Been doing eps since Covid.

@@marlak4203 Good point! I also think it has something to do with the flat iron as well. You are essentially crushing the strands between 2 hot plates. That crushing action doesn't take place with a hot comb.
@marlak4203
@marlak4203 2 жыл бұрын
@@cfoster6804 I remember Afrikan Hair God has did a videos some years back and he mentioned something like that. But I think flat irons have been around since the 90's or so? And he said it could be "certain" kind of flat irons. Cermaic vs Tourmaline(sp). Something like that. If anything you'd think the hot comb we used would cause all of this quicker too because its a comb which gets into the strands of hair more thorough than the flat iron. But it used to take some time before that "damage" would appear. Not after 1 use. I really do believe its these high chemical products. I have had all kinds of flat irons ($140 CHI, $30 Red, Hot tools and Babybliss). And let's not forget how we also had the stove barrel curlers. However I don't straighten my hair a lot. Like 1 or 2xs a year. But i also use more natural stuff on my hair. 'Cept when straightening it.

Now that's how you do hair! Get 'em in and out. I was in a salon once all day. I came in with the stylist and left, at closing, with her. My whole day was shot; and my dumb-a$$ stayed and paid to suffer that type of abuse. Needless to say, that was the first and last time I did something so foolish. If she was doing my hair for free then I'd expect to be treated in such a thoughtless way but, I was a very good client.
