Thank you so much for such great instructions. Always wanted to use these looms and had NO IDEA how they worked. I can knit, and crochet, but had to teach myself by turning the book upside down as I'm left handed. (Same way I taught myself to play Guitar!) But with RA and occasional carpal tunnel (I'm permanently disabled) bothering me on long detailed projects I find this amazingly easy and so simple to do! I love it and your videos. Thanks for helping me to keep my love of arts and crafts alive! I adore Quilting, Cross stitch, and Embroidery too! I'm too young to hang up my yarn and needles yet! (56!) So you have no idea how much I appreciate this! These tears are from JOY! Bless YOU Virginia! Can't wait to get a long loom to go with these as well! I'll be watching all your videos! Muah Dear! I so appreciate this! Suzi

Exactly. It's about finding the right looms FOR YOU. However, I do have an "S" type loom to make 5ft wide blankets but that was a gift. If you need a wider blanket then you can make panels with this one and sew them together. :)

I really like the way you go through things step by step. The counter was a great idea! Thanks for the type. I also will incorporate adding the tail of my slip stitch onto the loom, vs letting it hang,. I started a quilt on a small loom and thought that I could do rows and then sew them together but using the e stitch, it does roll really bad. So I will try it on the larger loom. I want to prevent it from curling, which videos teach a different stitch that will not roll on me. I really appreciate your videos and great explanation

You can invest in an "S" type loom that should create a wide, adult size panel (blanket). It would be similar to the DA Loom Infinity II loom I have a few videos on but they are no longer for sale. Try CindiWood looms. Or, you can make panels with the biggest loom you have and then sew together.
@SimplyIntertwined

What I learned if if you knit a row, then purl a row, then knit a row, then purl a row (repeat this process a few times and it will help). Also, you can "block" the blanket when done, by wetting it and laying it out flat to dry.

Nice video. I just thought of something. Is there anyway you could set your camera up to where you work your projects on a flat surface? I just feel for you trying to juggle your tools around in order to stay in front of the camera. I would think it would be so much easier for you and viewers would benefit from this also. I just would like to see things made easier on you, because I just love your videos. thank you for taking the time to do these for all of us.

Hi Virginia..I am new to this and have watched the video over and over but I am still wondering something. I am making a baby blanket and it lovely on the loom, except where I am skipping the end pegs every other. I am getting a slant on my blanket and was wondering once I am done and take it off the loom am I going to have a square blanket? I love your videos!!!
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 10 жыл бұрын
The only time the end pegs are "skipped" is when you are working your way back and forth. The end peg becomes the "first" peg in that row and has nothing done to it (in the video). I think I had a small slant. If you wan to, practice making something smaller, like a dishcloth, and take it off the loom and see what it looks like then.

I've seen a lot of people saying their stiches got too tight when doing the E stitch. I found that if the cross-over point of the wrap in on the INSIDE of the loom, the tension is good and never gets too tight. You must wrap the pegs in the same direction each time. You'll know immediately if you did it backward.
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 11 жыл бұрын
It depends on the size of the baby blanket you make, the loom in the video is about 22 in long. It came in a set of 4 through Amazon.
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 12 жыл бұрын
@CraftyQT You most likely would have to do it while you are looming the blanket. As I mentioned in the video, you can start with the garter stitch all away across for so many rows, then switch to only doing a certain amount of pegs at the beginning and end of your room. The "middle" of the loom would be a different stitch. Then end the blanket with garter stitch all away across the loom for as many times as you did at the start of the project.

I think you'll remember that I was the one who was having trouble with the big loop when I did the pullover. I was having the loop that was way too big. Well I have figured out that problem and my blanket is getting to be pretty big. My question to you is I am almost done with a whole scheme of yarn and need to continue with another. Do I just tie the two ends together from the old one to the new one and make a couple of knots that will end up being hidden in the project and continue on or is there another step I should do? And everybody is right, your videos are great and they do help beginners like us learn to loom knit. I recently watched your video on how to cast off and when I'm done I will be going back to your video. Thanks again. Oh yeah I have started wearing my wrist brace when I knit. At least on the hand that's doing all the work. I don't need to wear the one on the hand that's just holding the loom. That is helping. Gloves did not help but my brace did help which I didn't even think of until you had mentioned me wearing gloves. So thank you for that as well.

I have a question about changing colors, when counting your rows, do you count you cast on (the first time around with the e stitch)? Or do you not start counting until the first knit over? Also, when you change colors, do you count that first wrap? Thank you, sorry if I'm a little confused, very new to this...but loving it so far :)

There are 62 pegs on that Knifty Knitter long loom. As for the width you would get, I can't remember as it has been awhile since I used that loom. You can cast 10-20 rows and use a flexible tape measure to see the width you get. Hope this helps.

I have a lot of my blanket done but my bottom and sides are rolling what can I do about it. At the begining I have cast on using the E-wrap and the 2nd row Purled 3rd row purled then the rest is E-wraped but it is stilled rolling. I even put in 2 more purl rows over half way down to give it a little of my own style and to try to stop the rolling. Help me please!!

If it is a specific pattern I would need permission to do a video (if I understand the pattern).

***** I would have to know more about the blanket you are talking about. Again, if it is a pattern I would need permission. As for colors, I would need to know the specific Lullaby Baby Blanket pattern since there are a few out there called that.

It doesn't on the size of the round loom. Like is it a Knifty Knitter loom? With round looms you sometimes need to make panels and sew together to get the width/length you want.

Virginia, I am very new to looming. I want to make an afghan. I have a loom and when the pieces are put together it measures in length to be 23 inches. What size would my width be on the project? Do I just measure up onside across and up the other side and not the other end?

Yes, just switch them out or use two different colors at once, depending on the look you want.

Can you do like full size blanket on the long knitting loom . How many do you have to to make full size blanket ?
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 6 жыл бұрын
You can and then join together. As for how many, I'm not 100% sure. I haven't used this loom in a while so I don't remember the measurements of the finished project depending on the amount of pegs used. I would say make one and then measure and compare to a normal blanket and it should give you an idea of how many. I am pretty sure at least 4 or more. Sorry I couldn't be more help!

I really like your videos and I have learned a lot. My question is how would I make a larger blanket ??? How would you tie them into each other???
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 9 жыл бұрын
nancy R You could invest in an "S" type loom which will give you a bigger blanket or "sew" panels together.

I find that when I wrap the first and last pegs I don't get the curling you mentioned. My edges have a nicely tight finished look to them as well. Just thought I'd share that with you.

did you know if you cut a short piece of drinking straw, and put it over your yarn at the beginning. Use it to wrap around your pegs, instead of your fingers. It goes quicker and the yarn doesn't jump off the pegs. Just a thought. Happy looping!
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 6 жыл бұрын
I have a video about something similar but over time, I was faster without the straw and just preferred not to use it. But I know it's a great help to a lot of loomers. It's all about finding what works for you. :) Happy Looming!

I was wondering if you can do this on a round loom? Would I do it the same way?
@SimplyIntertwined
@SimplyIntertwined 6 жыл бұрын
It would depend on the size of the loom. You can make flat panels using a round loom but the size would be different. You may have to panels and sew them together.

I'm going to break out my loom. I bought some bulky yarn to make a blanket and struggling with it trying to crochet. I don't like the way its looking. I think it will work better using the Loom. Also thank you for using a long loom. That's what i have. Lots of people using round looms not enough long loom videos.

@SimplyIntertwined

I'm not totally sure because I don't needle knit so I don't know how the gauge would be switching to a loom. All you can do is try. If you can put loops of the blanket on the loom it might work. Again not 100% sure
