Thank you so much for sharing this video. I’ve been married for 16 years going on 17, and one of the wedding gifts I got was a steamer, which I unboxed yesterday. That’s right, my mom gave it to me and I stored it in the basement along with all my high school and university books. Yesterday I unearthed it as hubby and I were clearing out the stuff we have hoarded over the years. I had no idea how to use it so I thought I check a few videos before I burn down the house. I wish you could see the look on my face and how with great embarrassment I’m picking up my jaw off the floor. You mean to tell me I could have prepared healthy lunch and dinners without killing myself in the kitchen all these years? Ain’t no way !!! Imma test this contraption, and come back to tell the tale. ❤️🙏👍

Hi what was the white thing you stuck on top of the lid and was you blocking up the vent holes
@Greekcookingeveryday Жыл бұрын
Hi. That was tissue soaked in vinegar which helps to eliminate any odours created by the broccoli. Try not to block the vent holes too much but it shouldn't be a big issue as long as there is some space for the steam to go through.

Can you pile different mixed veggies in one tray, or does it need to be one layer n spread out, if so doesn’t give much room for a lot of veggies in one tray
@Greekcookingeveryday Жыл бұрын
Yes you can add different vegetables on the same tray it doesn’t really matter
@1John5-13-Lisa Жыл бұрын
@@Greekcookingeveryday no I mean can I pile the veggies not layer/ spread out, on one tray so I can have more veggies on one tray
@Greekcookingeveryday Жыл бұрын
@@1John5-13-Lisa I would recommend that you don’t fill it more than halfway because then it would be very difficult for the vegetables to cook thoroughly.

Interesting to catch the KZfaq Algorithm being clairvoyant: I have a stainless steel pressure cooker that functions as a steamer and a 5-piece individual stainless steel camping cook set that fits inside the cooker. I imagined a meal with rice, eggs, and veggies, then I see this thumbnail!

I buy a good sized bag of potatoes. I have a 2 teir steamer, I place the chicken in the bottom, right above water, then there's a divider that goes between the first and second teir. The second teir is always for veggies, I decided to try to steam my pototoe instead of micro. I noticed that even when I steam my chicken at 30-35 mins the middle of the potaoe is rather raw still, all way through. granted I poked a lot of knive wholes. So, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Tonight, I'm going to cut the potote in half and see if this works better.
@Greekcookingeveryday Жыл бұрын
If the potato is big, then cut it in sixths. If it average then cut it in quarters. This should ensure that the potato gets cooked.

@@Greekcookingeveryday Hey, thank you so much, I don't cook, I'm a single guy, tend to eat out, but I've been steaming my meals for sometime now, got tired of using the microwave, and then the steamer, I figured steam the pototoe all at once. Thanks for the info
