In this video, Mel shows you how to make a basic sunflower wreath, using yellow poly burlap mesh for the petals, and olive green for the leaves, along with a realistic sunflower head center. This type of sunflower is a great introductory project for beginning wreath makers, using the Dean Michael style petal.

1 Roll of 10"x10yd Yellow Poly Burlap Mesh: melscraftymojo.com/products/p...

1 Raised 10" Box Wire Frame: melscraftymojo.com/products/b...

Chenille Stems: melscraftymojo.com/products/6...
Other tools you will need
Hot glue gun and glue sticks
Rotary Cutter or Wood Burning Tool to cut mesh
Rotary Cutting Mat
Wire Cutters for cutting zip ties and/or chenille stems
Glass or Metal Cutting Board (preferably glass so you can see through to cutting mat, only needed if using wood burning tool to cut mesh)
Small rubber bands or large clothespins or clips to hold the petal bases in place (very helpful but not completely necessary)

I received my kit today and can't wait to start this wreath. I just finished a Memorial Day Cross Wreath today and I just loved how it came out. Mine is a little bit different than the ones on KZfaq, I added stars on my blue petals (I used 13 stars for the original states, being from NJ) and I will make another one probably tomorrow (one for my Dad and one for my father-in-law- both Veterans of Foreign wars and also past VFW Commanders). What a gorgeous wreath. Everytime I try using poly burlap even though I woodburn it, it still frays. So frustrating.

@@joanneczaplicki2210 I use the rust-oleum 2xs clear matte and spray the poly once I get it all cut up and then again once I get the flower done before I put the center in. I find if I spray the poly before I start using it, it does help with the fraying.
