You’re so cute. Thank you, thank you for this tutorial. Our bust measurements are the same, but I have a large tummy and somewhat larger hips. I have sloping shoulders and a high rounded back ( which I had at age 18 in photographs. I’m also short waisted. I took flat pattern methods in college. Thank you for starting this series. I have a round back, sloped shoulders, forward shoulders, big tummy and a high waist. So many adjustments can get overwhelming sometimes. With a master pattern that has all the adjustments in it will make sewing for myself so much easier. Eventually, I am hoping my personal adjustments will become natural for me. Your videos are so encouraging for me and I want to thank you for that.

Thanks for the great tips. My measurements are very similar to yours it really helps to see how someone similar in shape does their fit changes. I know i learned some alterations i want to try on my base pattern for sure for example the round back and bust adjustment. I believe having your base pattern fit how you want it to before moving on to style changes should make those changes easier. No need to have to figure out fit issues while changing up the designs. I do really enjoy your chats that include parts of your life . Its what makes watching enjoyable for me.

Hi. This is a great video. Learned so much. One comment while I watch this. When you did your first fitting you said you needed to add to the round back adjustment. I wish you had done an insert to see what that had looked like before you made the final adjustment. I think I would’ve found that helpful. Maybe next time. I also learned something new after sewing for 50 years. That’s the shoulder adjustment where you make the L and cut it out. What a great idea to solve a problem. Thank you.

Joy, I love your enthusiasm, truly and that you are showing us how to measure and fit, just not a piece of material or a pattern that you just bought at Hobby Lobby. I think that you should market your own fitting system. You have sliced and diced this "Fit Nice" "Master Tee" system, until there is nothing left. I believe you originally learned to fit with Palmer and Pletsch? I am very heavy and I think that with P & P, you fit from your measurements not add on to a pattern. So, enjoy your zest for life and that you take such great care of your mom.

Hi Joy, I’ve made two tops with Judy’s pattern so far. Well three but the first one isn’t done. I more or less tried Judy’s directions on fitting them, but that only somewhat worked for me. Much happier with the third top, but I messed up and had to put a gusset in the side seam to get it to fit my bust. My proportions are almost identical to yours, just add 4 more inches everywhere. I’ve come back to this video and taken notes this time because I couldn’t quite remember what size you cut for your pattern before making the FBA. I’m glad to know that I was thinking right that it was probably closer to the high bust measurement. I’m anxious to draft yet another pattern and make the similar adjustments. You are right that this pattern is very addictive. I can’t wait to get a master set so I can start making variations. My two finished tops are the first clothes I’ve managed to complete for myself in over 20 years. After this maybe I can tackle the Surefit Design pattern again. I love your videos. Thank you!

Hi Joy, I don't know what program you are using for video editing. They all have more than one track/story line. What you need to know is- - - you can mute the sound on any track, especially the one you don't want to hear from. Or, and I'm sure you know this, put the clip into the story line, let it play to where you want it to end, and then cut the rest off using Clip, and delete that portion you don't need. If you are having a hard time finding the portion you want to clip off, you can expand the track/story line. There is a plus button somewhere on that track/story line. Usually on the left where the track begins. Expand it, +++, and find that section you want to take out. Where you want it to end click on cut, then right click on that unwanted section and hit delete. Make a mistake? Click undo and try again. To me, everything is an "undue". XOX

Hi again Joy. I am really loving this lesson because I am equating it to the tee shirt block I want to make for my husband who still has those broad shoulders and a itty-bitty waist way down there. Yup, double take on a man in his 70s! I am hoping you can help me figure this out. What I hate is when a man rests his elbows on a table, (especially in a suit jacket) and the back of the jacket or shirt under the collar buckles up. Some of his shirts buckle up 1/2". Some 3/4"s. Is it that there is too much length between the high point shoulder and the waist, or not enough length? Or maybe, is it that the back neckhole isn't cut deep enough? If it helps... I tracked the buckling in the back yoke to the armhole, and it usually ends up 1.5" below the low end of the shoulder tip. Could you please help me name the problem? If I know what the problem is called, I can look for a correction. Thanks!

I your armholes gap in the front, you may need one. You could need to pull up the shoulder seam as well. If you have ripples of fabric at your sides, you may need an FBA. The whole idea is you need MORE fabric to go over your bumpy front than you need to go over your flat sides.

Wondering if you belong to Judy Kessinger's Fit Nice Club and if you don't mind, how involved are you with the Fit Nice System. IMHO, the patterns are waaaaay overpriced, and it seems there is a charge for any additional information beyond the patterns and books, albeit small. The whole point of the master pattern is to have a base to work from. This is not a fitted pattern, it's a T Shirt. You use the completed fitted pattern as a base for future garments. You Joy, have not followed the instructions. You may want to do another one following her instructions and then change your patterns for each different style of shirt or jacket you prefer. No disrespect intended. Just relaying the intended use. It's not supposed to be a form fitting shirt as your base pattern. Looking forward to seeing what you have made.
