I’m new to leather works and I’ve been experiment with finishes . I noticed u used tankote and then saddle lac , need to try that . Normally I would use tankote on the wallets i would make but every time I get my wallets wet it leaves permanent stains , so I experimented and now I use tankote and at the very end I give it 2 coats of resolene and found that it makes my wallets water resistant. Also something else I saw on KZfaq that helps me and might help you is when cutting the liner or veg tan in general you can put the veg tan on top of carpet and when u use the knife to cut it just makes it easier hard to explain but it’s a life saver . Great video !!!

FE Leather Works I was having that same problem with water marks so that’s why I started to finish with saddle lac, I’ll have to look into the carpet trick! Thanks for the feedback!

What thickness leather did you use for the outside of the billfold that you carved on?

@jakeufford7356 Thank you! I am new to this. I have been trying to carve on leather scraps I got at the Tandy store. It seems much of my frustration stems from the fact that I have been trying to carve leather that is too thin. (Smacks self in head) That's all part of tge learning curve I guess. LOL

Yeah there will be a lot of trial and error but that’s a good way to learn what does and doesn’t work!

I wish you hadn't rushed through the drawing part. For some of it, that's the most difficult part, and there isn't a whole lot about it on KZfaq.
