A wonderful design, John, and environmentally friendly as well! I love the range of greenery that you used here and can only imagine how wonderful the rosemary smells. The tulips and roses together make for an interesting textural experience. Hope the week works out well for you. Happy Easter! 🐇🌺🌹🌼🌷🐰

Frog is cuter than pinholder or kenzan 😀yes, I think we should use these more - so this showed it can take more materials and of course you can use two or three in one bowl.

Wow! Check out that rosemary! You must have a very large bush! You were able to use the pinholder as if it was foam, and it reminded me of the old days when you taught us how to make arrangements using foam. You were able to do it with just the central pinholder. Like always, your foliage looks gorgeous even before adding the flowers. It seems like the tulips were a little bit hard to add to the pin. Is that so? Thank you John!
@FlowerJoos4 ай бұрын
Thank you 😀 I have a fellow flowery friend here who has great rosemary so I have a good supply! This was like a basic design video but with a pinholder instead of the foam - when I think back everything was in foam 6/7 years ago! I think the tulips were just harder to find a space, and they tend to be a top heavy flower - but generally they go onto the pins very easily. Thank you for watching 👀 😊

Hi John, been watching your video's for quite awhile and love your designs. Could I ask, is it worth adding flower fix to the base of the pinholder or not?
@FlowerJoos4 ай бұрын
Thank you! You can do that but if there is balance it’s not needed. In ikebana you wouldn’t, but with anything western then you can 😀

Thank you for this lovely design. You talking about pinholders made me wonder - I often do large arrangements and I'm thinking of using the leaves of the Agave Americana (the large grey one). I love the way some grow upright and others curl. I've been thinking of using red roses as matching flower and some gypsum. What other leafage would you advise please?
@FlowerJoos4 ай бұрын
Thank you 😊 that’s an interesting combination - the agave leaves are big / thorny and physically heavy - so you need to decide whether to create a very stripped down design or what the overall look will be. I would tend to add something with a different shape / size and colour - so fatsia would be good , and this helps create a frame for the flowers. The agave would be ok out of water I think - so you could wedge then, pin them, nail them and leave your mechanic such as a pinholder for the roses.
@theresamarais26424 ай бұрын
@@FlowerJoos thank you so much! I'll definitely use the fatsia. I'm using a box with sand and draping material around it. Is there maybe an e-mail where I can send you a picture?

when using a pinholder, do you enter the material on the pin or next to the pin?
@FlowerJoos4 ай бұрын
That’s a great question and the answer is a bit of both- it depends on the size and spacing of the pins on the pinholder and then the diameter and quality of the stem. Some stems will happily wedge between pins, others will be stuck onto one, two or three pins even. The main thing is that the stem is secure. With very fine stems you can use a thicker stem to create the hold - just add a hole in a short piece of thicker soft stem, then thread in the fine stem like a thread through a bead - then just cut the end and position. Hope that helps! It’s just a case of getting used to what works best for you and for different materials 😊
