Well yours certainly sounds better than mine did, I am happy that you have made a video on it, with your guidance I am getting a better understanding of how to improve my next one.Hitting the bark all over really helps to get it off, this morning I tried it on a 2cm diameter piece and slid bark off intact. I am going to let it dry out (with some paper stuffed in the ends so it stays round) to see if I can make a more long lasting flute.

Thank you, I have been making these for a few years now, but some worked and some not, it seemed magic, but I can make one in like just 3 to 4 minutes, cause I have failed so many. Your explanation about how the soundhole and the airflow makes so much sense, I will try it first thing in the morning. Maybe this years season is saved😁

Got a question though: Is there a way to change the pitch of the flute, for example if it's in C but I want it to play a D as the lowest note? Just cut it off until my tuner shows a D?

would probably work with any supple wood that has a "smooth" bark like the willow if the bark is too hard or brittle it would just crack and break when you were beating it loose from the branch

@@taranmehta6356 Amazing i am currently watching many videos and reading books, bamboos tend to splinter alot, and are very resistant, its nice to know that it's possible to use this embouchure, an important factor would be the length and width of the flute, they will determine the frequency and possible sounds. thank you

@peterbonucci9661

Hold it between your hands the narrow way. Quickly slide your hands back and forth to spin the stick like a drill. Use pressure. The idea is to spread any place where the bark and wood have separated around under the bark. That's how my Dad taught me. I hope this helps.
