Here we demonstrate how to make our newest tiki-style class cocktail, the TT Mai Tai, This very slight twist on the tropical favourite simply adds a splash of pineapple juice and a healthy glug of overproof rum, giving it a slightly sweeter, more tropical but no less delicious flavour profile and making it extra boozy for a big finish.
This drink is made by shaking a blend of rums, triple sec, lime juice, orgeat almond syrup and pineapple juice before topping with a splash of overproof rum which is flamed and dusted with cinnamon.
INGREDIENTS;
🍹 75ml Rum Blend (1:1 dark and white rum)
🍊 20ml Triple Sec
🍯 25ml Orgeat
🍈 25ml Lime Juice/1 Lime
🍍 20ml Pineapple Juice
🥃 Overproof Rum to finish
🪵 Powdered Cinnamon
🍸 Empty Lime Shell, Orange Slice and Mint Sprig to Garnish
EQUIPMENT:
-Shaker
-Jigger/Measure
-Hawthorn Strainer
-Elbow Press
-Matches
-Cubed Ice
-Crushed Ice
METHOD:
1) Using your jigger to measure, add the rum blend, triple sec, pineapple juice and orgeat to your Boston glass or shaker
2) Using your elbow press, squeeze 25ml or the juice of one lime and add to shaker
3) Fill with cubed ice and seal
4) Shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds
4) Serve with dirty ice (ice from shaker) in a hurricane glass or tiki mug
5) Hollow out one empty lime shell to create a bowl and balance on top of drink
6) Fill lime bowl with overproof rum and light with match
7) Sprinkle with cinnamon to create some indoor fireworks
8) Blow out flame and pour remaining overproof into drink before stirring
9) Garnish with orange slice and mint sprig
10) Serve and enjoy!
