Good morning, guys for the ones who might prepare this Camp stew one day this is some more information that will be helpful.. I boiled the hen for about 3 hours give or take, until it was absolutely tender, after it came to a boil I turned the heat to low and let slow cook until done. And for the Boston butt I season it with salt and black pepper and granulated garlic and covered with foil and baked on 325 degrees for 3 1/2 hours or until tender..and guys if you would like to do a larger amount then what I’m doing in the video all you need to do is double this recipe, with your always do it to your taste. Now if you all have any questions just drop me a email 🥰 I hope you guys have a blessed week and God Bless 🥰😇🙏🏾

MaeMae, that looks so delicious and satisfying!! I will definitely make me some. Might make it today since the ingredients are fresh on my mind!!! Bet it'd be good with cornbread too. You did a wonderful job explaining how to make it. I only remember one time my mama cooked a hog head when I was about 18 or 19, and we just ate the meat with soup beans (pintos) and cornbread. The meat on the hog head was real good I remember.

Morning Miss Mae Mae! I was born, raised, and still live in Georgia. My dad made Brunswick Stew. He would always use a hog head in his Brunswick Stew. I used to hate the teeth looking at me as the head cooked. 😂

Lawd, you brought tears to my eyes with this stew. My mother and aunts were from Clayton an Eufaula AL but we lived in Ohio. I remember taking them around to the farms to get all those ingredients and they'd can it. They would just add the meat whenever they wanted it for a meal and some jars had okra in it.

Mrs. Mae, you absolutely made my entire year. My Grandma and Momma were the only ones in our family who could really make camp stew. Unfortunately, I never watched them, I would only devour it. I looked high and low and couldn't find the recipe, so I'm so thankful for you making this. Yes, my Momma's family was from Banks AL, way back in the woods on a red clay road. My Momma passed away in 2011, but she made a huge pot for my sister and I in 2008. I ate mine within a few months, but my sister didn't realize she had any left in her deep freezer. In 2020, I went in her freezer and found a bowl. When I heated it up, it still tasted like my Momma had just made it. God knew I needed a piece of Mom at that time. I'm supposed to start my diet this weekend, but I'm going to wait a week so that I can make me this Alabama Camp Stew! Thank you for being such a blessing!

Good afternoon, Miss Mae Mae. I grew up in MD, but I guess I wasn't far enough south of the Mason-Dixon line because I have never heard of camp stew. We had black-eyed peas for New Year's. It does remind me of Brunswick stew. Looks delish! I'm gonna try it. God bless😊
