I never thought to sync the VCO to the kick pulse to insure the waveform starts at the same point for every hit. Thanks!

I started with the moog mother32 because it is a very solid standalone unit that can be completely integrated in a future modular system. it takes you a lot of time to figure out the very basics of modular synthesis but it is a very rewarding thing. don´t cry about all the money spent, it is well worth it. so much fun that never gets old. once your system is growing, so is your knowledge about creating sound. with this kind of system you really can develope your own unique style of music and sound, which is just awesome. here´s what i put together so far: www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/662177 its still growing and is one of the most beautiful things i ever owned ;-) let me know if you have any questions!

@Steel City Buds Channel Well yeah it is, I agree on that (Although it is still dependant on what kind of a kickdrum you buy ;) But you forget that those things are able to do a lot more than just being a kickdrum. Thats the real beauty of it. The shapeshifting nature of modular. Giving you the opportunity to patch something new up every single time. With an unprecidented control over every single detail you can dream of. And that is an amazing thing, right? :) Edit: I still found your comment really funny :D

At 4:24: "So then I take the output of the second envelope and put it to the pitch input". No, you don't, Toby! According to the layout of the Z3000, you actually put it into the FM2 input! I was wondering why I didn't get the same sound even though I was using the same envelope and oscillator modules, and this was driving me crazy! Later in the video, at 7:00 to be exact, he actually patches one of the attenuverter outputs of the Maths to the 1v/o input on the Z3000 to control the pitch.

Jan De Buysser you can get very similar results w/ operator, it has the same modules more or less; multiple instances of different sound generators (operators in this case) with mix control, there is a pitch envelope, plus much much more. Would suggest to just look up how to create a kickdrum w/ operator, ought to get you on the way

Hey he has five modules An envelope generator(make noise maths) A four channel mixer(vca4mx) An oscillator(tiptopz3000) A cross filter/out- a-138d And a lfo-a145 ---- He takes the clock of the pulse log to envelope 1 trig(maths) He takes that same trig out into env 2 Then the same trig from 2 into Oscar sync function(vca) He then takes all 4 Oscillator outputs into the 4 channel inputs He takes the mixer(vca) into the a138d so you can hear it on your system Afterwards he takes the env 1 output to a mixers cv input Then the mixer cv input to the other 3 channels input. Later he takes the env 2 out into the oscillator pitch Then an extra envelope into the osc pitch Then he takes the mix and puts it through a filter Then the trig out into sync. I may not have put it all correct especially towards the end. But I’ll edit later if I have to.

Instead of using all the VCAs was not possible to mix them with a mixer, and then pass the mix through the VCA? Maybe I'm wrong.. Anyway, great video!
@delinquentdialect5869
@delinquentdialect5869 7 жыл бұрын
The VCA module he was using IS a mixer. So why have two modules when one will do. Also he wants independent VCA control of each wave form, rather than mixing the waves then applying the VCA after. Hence the use of two of the envelopes on the MATHS module
@precarious333
@precarious333 7 жыл бұрын
+GreatMateWorkshop You are correct. Either arrangement will work the same effect. In fact most people don't have 4 VCAs to dedicate to a kick! Makes much more sense to mix then into a single VCA. I think he only did it the other way because that's how that particular module is set up.
