Uncrowded Reasons I assume, with the sculpting of the clay head and then having to trace out, print and put together every piece, it would take longer than foam carving.
@tweets009
@tweets009 4 жыл бұрын
@@snowcapmt although once you have all the pieces you can just put them together and have what you want (with a bit of heat if you need lol) but if you were to carve you would need to keep adding more foam and keep carving it and carving it until you got something you wanted which could take longer than just having the shape there for you already

Thank you for making a base that is specifically made for EVA foam. I've worked with it for my previous two heads and it's extremely light weight and durable. Also I'd you live in the US, there is a cosplay company who makes a moldable without heat gun low density EVA foam. It's made by SKS foam for anyone wondering and is sold by Blick Art supplies.

fantastic design & video! I have a question - how do you decide what angle of bevel to use? is it eyeballed, trial/error on tests, or do you have a way to calculate it? Also, how do you decide how many pieces to use & where piece divisions should be? I can see ones that keep the "shape areas" of the mask, ie. the brow areas, but are there any general rules you can recommend? ("sharper bulge curves are made up of many areas" etc)

Very interesting to see such a different approach from the "traditional" foam carving method One question I have is regarding the glue, you mention in the subtitles that you will explain why use contact cement instead of hot glue but I didn't see it I suppose it is because using the heatgun to shape it would make the hot glue melt again, but I just want to be sure, in case it's for another reason

Hi there! :D Its Briar again, i was on one of your past live streams asking about this new head base before it came out, and have a new question to ask about this head base. *Is it possible to make this head base out of soft upholstery foam?* i bought 4+ meters of soft upholstery foam before this video was uploaded, and i really need to know if its okay to use only the upholstery foam to make the head base with? (the reason why i bought soft foam was because i thought this would be the same or very similar to that cinderace cosplay head base made out of soft foam and i started to panic because it wasn't the same foam used in this video xD ) i just need to know as soon as possible as i'm planning on buying this new head base for my fursuit. What do the dotted lines on the template / foam do? By the way, can you use this patterning technique for any type of foam? (upholstery too?)

Those are "registration marks'" so you can line the pieces up right when gluing. And I tested with 1 cm upholstery foam and that didn't work that well. I don't know about thicker, you would have to test that
