Do-It-Yourself an electric Diddley Bow - fun to make and great to play! In this video I show you how to build a slide guitar for blues with one string (Diddley Bow). You can make this DIY just in 10 minutes. Or even less - if you don't want to make it electric. This Diddley Bow sounds great as an acoustic instrument too - just don't place a guitar pickup.
I'm not that type of man who has many woodworking tools in his garage. So if even I could make it - you will definitely be able too.
I think this instrument is worth 10 minutes of your time. Playing it is just awesome.

Diddley Bow's are awesome, everybody should make one. I've never seen one being made without soldering the wires to the jack. I made one recently, more like a cigar box guitar and with frets but they sound great with a slide too. Good job!

finally, a diddley bow made by someone who doesnt have a workshop full of expensive tools. ive been looking for ages for this edit: i love putting my diddley bow through a hendrix fuzz face mini pedal, gives just the right kind of dirt to the sound without over doing it

I've made about 7 or 8 Diddley bows by now, most of them electric. Lots of fun to play through a digital amp with different effects. When my kids were still in elementary & middle school, I went in and gave a history lesson and playing demonstrations to their music classes. Lots of fun and questions from the students.

I made a four string just like MR. MYKOLAS. This is off the hook. I have two bass pick ups. Running with a fender deluxe hot rod amp. Wow this is better then buying an expensive guitar. Thank you for the video.

Genius!! Love the use of screws to hold bits in place. I'd been wondering about using an old across-the-soundhole pickup in the way you've uses your pickup ... definitely off into my shed to try all that. Great.

Whatever you want, based on length of your board and length of your string. 2 feet would be a reasonable starting point.
