In an age of technology it was fascinating to see they still use pins and scissors to cut the pieces. I expected a 2D laser cutter using data from the computer pattern.

How often do the drivers change their suit?

Fernando Alonso used 28 "Monos"(single piece race suits) this season. So I'm guessing most drivers use 5-15 suits, more or less depending on budget, wear, and suit color(White suits tarnish quickly and therefore need constant replacement). I've seen some shots inside the large team F1 motorhomes where the drivers have 3-7 suits available for the GP week. Suits worn to a podium finish probably add to the total because I don't think F1 drivers would(or could via FIA regs) use a nomex suit after it has been showered with champagne. They probably go through more nomex underwear and socks than suits...For obvious reasons. To add perspective, he also used 24 pairs of gloves, 11 $3000+ Carbon Fiber FIA8860(?) helmets, and 19 pairs of boots.

back in 1993 the cameraperson apparently didn't like to pull focus and editors didn't like to show what is actually happening to the fabric.
