These outdated dressers with their sectioned drawers always make me think “That would make an incredible apothecary cabinet!” This one in particular was rescued from the very back of the thrift shop and got a makeover with one of my favourite colours - Underground by House & Canvas.

Yes!!! Finally someone who just cuts the kickplate to make it straight. I have been screaming for this ever since the DIY Wife solution came onto the scene. Bless her for her solution but now there is an easier solution. I too use a pattern for pulls and handles. I just do not trust my ability to measure. I have had situations where some drawer faces or doors are a little bit smaller than the others. The pattern allows me to see where to put the pull so that it is level to the others regardless of where dead center is.

What an amazingly beautiful transition this piece of furniture made. I absolutely love it. I like how you stained the bottom kick plate. You have such wonderful ideas and you never cease to amaze me. Thanks for sharing the mistakes you made and how you fix them. It gets very discouraging to me whenever I make mistakes on a piece of furniture and have to go through changing it. I have a set of nightstands that are actually for my bedroom and I don’t like how the first one turned out so I’m going to redo it and then make the second one like the redo. I love watching your videos. Katie you are the best!

I love how you handled the kick plate. I hate them-when they’re curvy, they make a refreshed piece still look dated. And it also looks dated when a piece sits wood directly on the floor. What you did 1) Made the shape of the kick plate modern and 2) Gives the illusion the piece is sitting up on legs. Creative and practical problem-solving.

This video was filled with great info! Sanding off the overspray on the drawer sides (new thought for me), cutting the kick-plate to create “legs” (another new thought), fixing the drips and sags in the clearcoat by letting it dry and then starting over (a huge new thought for me!), and making a template for the entire drawer instead of one handle at a time (brilliant!) are all such elegant and simple solutions! I really love your color choice on this piece. I appreciate your willingness to share the entire process of this chest, even the oopses and the mind-changes. This turned out so good!🌸
