While we waited for Millie's results and some improvement to her health, we got on with boat jobs and explored the area around the marina.
04:01 And Jamie had a demonstration from Roy of 'SV Seven Thunders' on how to make an ocean plait mat. We used an old sheet from an even older foresail to do the job.
After the first visit to the first vet, little did we know we were in for the long haul and for many more visits over the coming months to a total of four different vets.
The new mat is brilliant for Millie to sharpen her claws... and yes, the cat sat on the plait mat!

Boy, I know how you both feel. My dog is sick. My mom is in a nursing home locked- in and away from my visits. These are difficult times and to add life’s other difficulties like sickness to our fur babies. Best to you both.

Sorry to hear about Millies disease process. These are difficult times for a family. The tests you had done would be well into $500 at my vet. I wondered if your water system is up to standard. Just a thought. I have two cats and food with a high ash content can plug up the urinary system on male cats. I do not have a clue as to what it would do to a female cat.Seems like you have a good vet there. They would know. Your travels have consistently opened up my eyes and mind as to what the quality of services are in the rest of the world. Us in the middle of the north American Continent loose sight of that. Well done you educators.

SV Barry Duckworth the membrane can deteriorate with age and pass more pollutants. Periodic water testing insures that the membrane does not need replacing.

This was just the beginning of visits and tests with four vets to date. The bill has run into $$$$ but she's worth it and we won't give up until she does. She's a bit water-drinker and has the same source as us, so it's not the water. Cheers! 🙏 Liz

Have U2 had a full check up.I was 65+before someone asked me that Question. Then i was worried it was a bit late. O.K, but waiting for the results was not.!!. The CAT Scans tunnel was freezing i recall.

Phew! I watched the video first, which was my big mistake. First, Millie at the vet and I was thinking, “Jesus, in the middle of a pandemic is NOT when you wanna be going to a vet.” Then I saw you in crowds, heard someone cough and immediately cringed thinking, “GET OUT OF THERE YOU FOOL!!” Only after finishing the video did I read the description and breathe a sigh of relief.

As this was shot before Covid-19 hope Millie is still okay. The rope mat was totally brilliant but even if I watched that process in slo-mo would be pushed to do that good a job. Just looked at your camera list which is your favourite the GH5 in my opinion is still a great camera. Guess you are still over at the other Marina in lockdown so best of luck to you all and keep happy and safe.

Why is the caclium so low (lab error)? I’m just a useless internist-hospitalist. Millie has always been one of my favorite internet cats. I especially remember when she swam around the boat to get back on board. Beautiful cat. Best wishes.

Sailing followtheboat sorry...I didn’t catch that...but sort of assumed it. Hope poor Milly survives this. We lost our Lily last summer to cancer and it was heartbreaking...but she was diagnosed in PENANG a few years ago so we were lucky to hold on to her as long as we did. Best of wishes! -Rebecca

When we're heeling for long periods I hold a bowl for her, but it has good grip pads and I'll usually wedge it somewhere so she can get to it. No offense taken! 🙏 Liz

Not going to say their decision was great ... but it was a bit different of a scenario. They were out in the middle of the pacific with not many locations nearby and especially not many locations around with decent vet services available, unlike here in which they are much closer to many locations that has good vet services. It is not like they could simply just sail a couple days and get to a place that had decent vet services and stick around for 3 mo's, 6 mo's or however long they needed. Even IF they could get to one location, they could only stay so long (per w/e visa requirements) before needing to venture sailing out for however many weeks to get someplace else. Again unlike here in which they have plenty of other countries w/in week of sailing to go to when their time and visa is up. Being weeks to a month to any nearby good vet services is quite a bit different, and one of the considerations they had to think about. Again, there are other decisions that could have been made so not saying their final one was great, just that was a completely different scenario with harder choices to make.

The Wynns did what was best for their situation. And one of their cats didn't last the week. Would you have rather they kept the cat on the boat the extra week?
