I'm so here for this. I hate wearing super structured collared shirts underneath anything but love the look, so detachable collars are the way to go. And there's historical precedent for it too.

Hey there! I just wanted to say that your channel is freaking amazing, some of the projects (like the Selkie inspired dress) literally make me drool out of happiness at the very thought of trying them out, your explanations are very clear and it's really nice that you also show stuff that doesn't necessarily work like you wanted it to the first time. I adore your work.

Thank you! Exactly what I was looking for. I'm making memorial bears and the shirts I'm using came with collars but they're unusable because of the way it was sewn on or they're stretchy cuff material. I'll be using collar 3 for the bears but all of them are amazing.

Brillant idea. You gave me an idea of how to change a day dress into an evening dress (that can switch back). To get a pattern, I folded the dress at the front of the v-neck and outline it; then same to back collar. (1 1/2inch wide) I sewed a rhinestone tape sandwiched just like you did with the lace. Only difference I have sewn snaps on the inside of the dress and collar (material in on the inside) so it snaps on and only a tiny margin of the gold satin material shows but all around is a edge of rhinestone bling.

I so enjoyed this! Great job! I had a couple of questions, tho. Why did you choose not to draft the pattern so that you put the collar back on the fold and have it be in one seamless piece? And why can't the larger collars be worn reversed as well, with the ties or hook in the back? Thanks!

Fabulous! Been looking for this instruction for a year! BTW at the end of the white collar portion (11:50) describing adding an extra piece to the bottom of the collar... made me think, please Ally, do a tutorial on dickies! Very common thing in the mid-1960's and so many styles could be bought. Dickies can be like the collars you made or even turtkenecks. You are very talented.

Hi Ally, Quick Question, what seam allowance do you use on the 3rd collar - on all the rest is a 1/4 of an inch and i was wondering if i should use that one? Thanks alot!!
@PaperStxrs
@PaperStxrs 3 жыл бұрын
I usually use a 1/2" seam allowance by just lining up the edge of the fabric with my presser foot. For something like collars though it doesn't have to be exact😊
