Great video guy looks really easy another good way to keep the bears coming into your bait is have some sort of a filter hanging in a tree like you have. Make sure it is secure so it does not fall fill it up with blended up fish works everytime for me anyways.

I've made that before using the same stuff, it smells grat, but I've never tried eating it! That was funny! We always cook ours until it burns. It will turn into sweet smelling white smoke that carries for miles!

What is in the barrel that is so attractive for bears

Not bad so far. We did this on opening day April 15th, and they usually take a little bit to get moving and find the bait. I usually start getting activity right around the first of May. We have had four different bears hit it, one is a monster. Check out our FaceBook page to see pictures of him. Going to try to see if he can dodge arrows this weekend.

Can't you just cook that up at home and carry it in as a finished product? Or are you hoping the cooking will permeate the air for a little bit?

In my state bear season runs the beginning of December. I'm totally new to this and I was wondering how long in advance do you start your baits?

How has this been working for you this spring?

Well here in Idaho by law you can't start baiting until opening day. That seems to be plenty. In the spring they usually don't hit it for the first couple of weeks, but depending on the snow, they may still just be waking up, but in the fall they hit it within a day or two.

Thanks for comments. Yeah, I use the bear crack and dog food cause I just don't want to smell nasty rotting fish or meat. That bear crack is much nicer to smell.
