Bokashi means fermented organic matter. So you can do this process to any dry organic matter. I use bokashi primarily for composting.
I used 1 pint of molasses and 1 pint of LAB to 5 gallons of tap water.
The dry materials are wheat bran and rice hulls.
The mixture anaerobically ferments for approximately 2 weeks. At that time, the bokashi must be completely dried out for storage.

There is such such SUCH an easier way and only costs under five bucks. Make your lab's, sprinkle on food scraps and done! I've been doing this for years flawlessly. Wheat bran is expensive and completely unnecessary. You have your labs made up, just use it and skip the bran and money and time wasting. I dilute my lab 50/50 with water, add a little molasses for food and store in a one liter bottle in the fridge. poke a few hols in the plastic bottle lid and squirt some on your food waste. The bran is just a carrier. You want your lab and have it, use it and skip all the insanity.

Thanks, I am looking for a way to speed up the breakdown of oak leaves for composting and will try your double bag method. Normally, we toss 4-500 gallons of oak leaves in 50 gallon trash bags!

I hope you keep up the good work you are doing How long can you store the labs for ? I would like to know the name brand of the ingredients that you use This spring I am going to jump into this type of making my own supplements and I'm going to build a good sized worm bin too and I might try the soldier flies too I wonder if they are good fishing bait like wax worms and meal worms ?

skip all the bran, mixing and aging. Just sprinkle your lab liquid on your food scraps . I mean it's right there. Work smarter not harder. I ferment perfect bokashi going on years now and just sprinkle on the lab liquid and walk away. It kills me that the way everyone sees it being done is considered the only way. Mixing with bran and all that work is 100% not necessary, like at all.

I though I was the only one that uses the water after a bubble run! No idea what nutrients are left over but I use it to water indoor plants or it goes into my aerated bucket with my kitchen scrapes. Why waste anything!
