How To: Make Brown Eyes Pop! | Navy Smokey Eye

Hi! This video is part of a series of videos that I'm in the middle of doing on how to make your eye colour pop. Todays video is for those of you out there with brown eyes and boy was this video highly requested! Of course you can sport any shade of shadow you desire regardless of your eye colour. This series is just to show you how you can really set your eyes ablaze with the use of specific eyeshadow colours :) In relation to the colour wheel you don't have to have a physical copy of one, you can find images on google and use them for inspiration!

As someone who went to art school & took several classes on color theory & applied color theory in painting (pigments as opposed to light frequency)What most people call colors- yellow, orange, red, blue, purple, green are actually hues. Hues are what you see in the rainbow essentially. You're totally on the right track with the color wheel. "Brown" or everything we tend to consider brown whether light like tan, or deep like chocolate, is just a deeper, duller version of orange, yellow, red, red-orange or yellow-orange. So you are correct, if you're working with complementary eye shadow colors to most brown eyes you would use blues, purples, or even greens. Some people have such dark eyes it might be hard to see if their undertone was more yellow or orange or red. Those are the people that really look good in Navy Blue :)

I love the way you do your videos & tutorials. You don't go too fast, you show the product with the name in graphic and no annoying music as a distraction. Plus the way you explain it really helps. It seems you're a natural at both the teaching & video production. ;) Hands down the best tutorial videos I've found on youtube.

I will definitely try this look for my eye shade. My eyes are goldish and im hoping the navy doesn't overpower my eye color but im wanting to try some new effects for upcoming events. Thanks for sharing.

LOOKS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!! I can't wait to try it! I have hooded eyes but I think if I buff and blend well enough about the crease it should look (HOPEFULLY!) as pretty as yours does! Thank you for showing to powder on the waterline after lining with the inner liner! SO many people don't saying it will stay as is, I am disappointed to find it gone or under my eyes! Now I know FOR SURE, to ALWAYS take a flat brush and pat some powder on top. It really looks beautiful!

Wow, when I was younger I used to always wear navy blue eyeliner, smudged out, soft looking on my eyes. Huh, I just liked the way it looked, turns out the colour suits my eyes too. Nice.

Absolutely STUNNING!!! I've been on the hunt for a deep, dark, rich navy eyeliner - so dark you wonder "Is that black, or super dark blue?" The dark navy smoky eye is beautiful! You did a great job breaking down the step-by-step process to achieve the look. Does anyone has any dark blue or blue-black eyeliner recommendations? I'd so appreciate any guidance you may have. nyx has a skin coloured eyeliner, though. I got one and I love it! You can use it on your waterline, as a highlighter under your brow or as a "negative" lipliner to enhance the definition of your lipline. very convenient!

i have brown hooded eyes bc I'm half asian so i have small eyes all smokey eyes will work it also helps if u tight line with a black gel or pencil/crayon in the water lines and then do a cat eye using black gel or liquid.

Of course! If you wanted, you could use the same colours but do a cut crease instead? Generally I find a cut crease makeup look is a great look to do for anyone with hooded eyes :) I would start my transition colour where the eye hoods and work from there. Basically when you're looking straight ahead into a mirror the fleshy piece of skin that kind of droops over the lid, apply the shadow to that area and blend upwards. Depending on how hooded the eyes are anything below that point most likely won't be seen. I've a beginner friendly video on how to create a cut crease makeup look and i've actually used blue shadows in that video as well. Eimear McElheron I was so inspired by your look I created my own version /tweaked version blue smokey eye with different colors I used some browns from my tartlette for transition and smoked it out with the blue from ud moondust palletes used some sparkly nude /beige glitter pencil for my lower water line and used black gel pencil to tightline upper lid and did a black wing. Got so many compliments . thanks for the inspiration.

Yeah my eyes are naturally blue and unfortunately I can't wear contacts so I had to edit the eye colour to show off the look :) x
