The first part of this series showed the entire process of making ceramic planters from recycling clay to hand-building various sizes and shapes of planters. Please check the video
Part 1: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ldObZdt8trG3h5s.html
Part 2 (Final): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/frxgY6aBxNPDnKs.html
This is the final part of this series. Here I show the bisque firing, decoration, glazing, and glaze firing process. This is an exciting process. I really enjoy opening the kiln after a long firing. These planters are used to light up my home and studio space. You also see various plants potted in the planters. I am happy to share the whole process with you despite the dirt and sweat. Please feel free to leave your comments and suggestions. Thanks!
I am Wanying Liang, an artist based in upstate New York. I record the process of how I work on ceramic sculptures. The videos are mostly slow, quiet, sometimes might be boring, but you may find them satisfying to watch, too.
I hope you enjoy and please let me know if you've got any questions down in the comments. Please subscribe to my channel for more videos on ceramic art sculptures.
Thanks for watching and I'll see you soon with a new upload.

Love it. Did you use a blue pencil for the iris? You look like you just used black oxide pencil to draw the eyes?

Thank you! Yeah, I just use black underglaze pencil to draw the eyes. I like the simple look.

Nice work. Great veriety. Watching you make the large pots, I was thinking, "She must have a big walk-in kilm." Was surprised to see an electric. Bet it was hard getting those big pots in and out of the kilm. Hope you had some help. Thanks for the video and extra work for us. Helps to inspire me. For years I've wanted to make some big planters. Some for raising food crops in the garden, with a mostly open bottom so roots can keep going, but for root crops, lift up to harvest.

It was indeed hard getting those big pots or my other large sculptures in and out of the kiln. My husband helps a lot. We are stretching the limit of that electric kiln. It would be nice if I can have a larger front-loading kiln. If a piece is made a little too big, it has to be smashed... The winter here is harsh, so most of these pots stay indoors. I have a small raised bed garden for growing vegetables.

Hi, just discovered your videos! :) I'm loving the soothing quality of your video too. I am planning to make some planters, I am using stoneware clay and going to decorate with slip too without any under or overglaze. May I ask if I need to fire it twice as usual or I can do just the one "glaze" fire?
@Liangceramicstudio
@Liangceramicstudio Жыл бұрын
Hi, I’m so glad you like the video. I think you only need to fire once.

Hello, you have such a unique style, your pieces are truly beautiful! Can I ask what's your white slip recipe to use on stoneware or earthenware? Thank you!
@Liangceramicstudio
@Liangceramicstudio 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you. I used a slip recipe which can apply on dry and bisque ware. You can find it in CUSHING'S HANDBOOK. Sorry I can not give you directly, cause I'm not sure if I have the right to public it here.
