In this challah bread video we make six braided challah bread in an easy way.
We can use this same challah bread dough to make challah bread of any shape.
What is challah bread
Challah bread or sabbath bread is a type of yeast bread very similar to a brioche, but with no dairy on it.
Challah bread is a kosher loaf of braided bread.
The simple challah dough is made with eggs, water, flour, oil, yeast ,honey and salt. The bread is typically pale yellow in color because so many eggs are used, and it has a rich flavor too.
Challah is eaten on Friday night and Saturday. It’s a Jewish plaited bread that is eaten with the first course on the sabbath eve. It’s also eaten the next day at breakfast and lunch.
On Sunday, any leftover challah can be turned into French toast or bread and butter pudding.

July/2022, this recipe is quite forgiving. I made 1 challah by dividing dough into 6 pieces weighing 147g each, I only used 30g of EVO and 6g of Kosher salt [Dad's dietary needs]. Our giant challah started browning at minute 14. Used a large piece of foil to loosely tent the top and lower temp to 335F. Continued baking for another 15 minutes with great success [internal temperature read 190F]. Allowing it to cool was the hardest part! The GIANT was beautifully golden and pulling strands from a slice was delightful. ♥Much love from CA♥

There are 2 ingredients in Challah. The 6 strands is significant that way. My mother used to make 3, 6, 9 and 18 strand Challahs but you can make them with 2 or even one strand!Your bread looks good! Just a side note, while all of us call this Challah, the actual Challah is the piece of dough that is set aside and burned as an offering. You say a prayer over that :)

I should have trusted you from the start Bincy, I made this challah bread last week and the dough was so sticky I added flour, but the bread was more dry and dense. This weekend I decided to try again with trust and the sticky dough really took 10 minutes of manual kneading before becoming a lovely dough! Now my bread is light and moist so thank you for your lovely recipe!

Just made this! Got it ready for dinner. Was busy with baby but it turned out perfect. Just like yours. I didn't have white sesame seeds but instead black which still tasted good. Miss the white ones But I had to add something pretty ontop. This makes 2 decent loaves. I was busy so I used the kitchenaid mixer with the hook for kneading. Looked great. My baby was watching me work. I failed the braid and got lazy but my ok braid still looked normal in the end. Tasty. I give your recipe A+! ❤️ Happy bread making today, while I have another bun in the oven ;) who liked the bread, My son loved it to. Love from Canada. -Ang
