Making colored paper is just like making regular handmade paper with a twist! This time where going to add colored paper to get a gorgeous series of colors. I'll show you how to make glitter paper and an ombre or 2 colored gradient paper too!
To make your own colored paper you can use regular copy paper or tissue paper which is what I used.
Pre-colored paper is best as dye will just fall right out when you touch the paper.
Supplies You Need to Make Colored Handmade Paper:
Paper Pulp (white)
Paper Pulp (colored - any colors you like)
Large Container with Water
Paper Mold
Sponge
Drying Cloth
Plus Accessories like: Glitter, Dried Flowers, Thread, Shredded Paper, Confetti, More
How to Make Paper Pulp:
Even if you buy pre-shredded paper pulp, you will likely still need to diy it to a certain extent. To make your own paper pulp you can use shredded rags or shredded paper. Soak it in water so that the entire ingredients are submerged. I like to use a ratio of 65% water 35% material. Let it soak for many hours then use a food processor or beat until a slurry is formed. You want your slurry to be evenly blended and about the texture of tomato soup.
How to Make a Paper Mold:
You don't have to use a pre-made mold like mine. You can make your own with a picture frame and plastic screen. To make one, remove the glass, paper and everything from the picture frame except the exterior frame. Use a fine mesh plastic screen - window screen will work and cut it to the size of the frame. Then attach!
