I use to use hobby lobby stain glass colors and then clear coat over them. I guess this is the new stuff for automotive.

I did my fogs with Rustoleum Stained Glass Yellow Lacquer and they still look good one year later.

It does look cool. I may use that effect for other things (i.e. costume visors) with the blue and red.

This stuff got a little flaky towards the end of 6 years but this headlight coating lasted through 3 complete totals of my motorcycle and over 130,000 miles of road in rain, hey speeds rocks. Obviously you can’t stop a rock from chipping it but on actual glass headlights this looks amazing. I had to revisit this video as of yesterday my headlightfell off and broke on the freeway and now I have to do this all over again.

I candied the tail lights on my 06 Altima with red metalcast, and I’ll say if you want them to last you need to 2k clear them, not just a 1k. They’ll fade noticeably.

1st off great video 👍 I did the fog lamps on my 2021 Honda civic using yellow Krylon stained glass translucent paint. For the headlights I used Tamiya light blue translucent spray paint, get the appearance of led 6k headlights without spending $100 on led lightbulbs.

Just use VHT Nightshades in place of the spray used in this video and you should be good.

Yes but it will probably cut visibility down a lot! I needed more visibility and the amber cuts through fog and can see further. But yes VHT night shade

a nicer alternative is to pop the housings open with an oven, and paint the actual chrome housing, though it will take more effort to do

@@Ezeke_ not much to do, due to the nature of the chemical mixture, once the hardener is added to the actual clear coat urethane, it's got to be used within the 2 days

Iffy. Yes and no. I didn’t read anything about tint on headlights but yellow and amber is legal in texas for headlights so 50/50

They say you shouldn't paint anything over the lenses as they could inhibit the performance and safety...the color yellow is legal. I have some HID bulbs that came with a clear, a yellow, or a blue tinted glass sleeve that fits over the bulb itself so i think I'm safe...keeping my lenses clear but still having the yellow light.
