Oh my goodness. It's me and Sweetgum balls!! I went everywhere. Drove all the way to the Georgia mountains. Brought home bags full for Christmas ornaments. Came home.......stepped on some at the mailbox of my friend down the street. I felt so silly

I am in rural South Carolina. Our home backs up to woods and they are FULL of pine cones! Wish you could come get some. We also have the round balls that come off of, I think, the sycamore tree. We called them porcupine eggs when our children were young and now with our 6 grands. I have seen these used to make bears, snowmen, hedgehogs, and porcupines. They are a lot of fun.

I have lots of pine trees in my yard with lots of pine cones. The squirrels eat the pine cones. What I make out of my pine cones are bears. Big ones and little ones. I make brown, black and white bears. I take the a pine cone for the body. Take smaller ones for the arms and legs. Cut off a small one for the nose. And take a bigger pine cone tear it apart and use it for the ears. Then I tie a bowl around the neck. I like what you did. 😃👍🇺🇲

Squirrels 🐿 are more likely the ones eating the pine nuts inside pinecones. You have several varieties of them in Nova Scotia. You even have 2 of them that fly . And wild hares do you like to chew on the pine cones to keep their teeth worn down. Congratulations I'm glad you found the pinecones you needed to make your cute little Penguins. 🌲

Oh my gosh...I just found you...I live in upstate NY (Pulaski...just off the Salmon River that runs off Lake Ontario) & I live on the 8th floor of an adult only apt bldg. I am currently looking at about 500 7-8" pine cones hanging from branches...& know that there are 100's more on the ground as I am only looking at the tops of 3 trees on property that is surrounded by these huge pines. Please...make a trip here sometime & load up on them...It is a huge enjoyment of mine to watch all the birds...from crows,bluejays,cardinals...woodpeckers...to squirrels...standing by those clumps of pines eating the seeds inside...seriously...come for a visit...beautiful sandy beaches at Sandy Pond,NY...right down the road...!!!😁

Too Cute. I should have SHIPPED you our pinecones . Didn’t know that was the type you wanted ! The Squirrels knock them down to the ground all summer long. You should hear my husband MOW OVER THEM! One day one flew so far, it hit the house! It sounded like a rock because it was still green and hard ! We have a little shed that his 4wheeler is in and the Squirrels have filled the place with pinecones! One morning we looked out and there were all these items sticking up out of the ground. We went down to see what it was… the SQUIRRELS had dug a hole and stuck the pinecone in a hole ????? Squirrelly right 🤪 They were hard to pull out too ! They pack them in hard! We have 6 of those pine trees . My husband racked them up one day and got 3 wheeler barrels full just that day. SO HE WON …HE COLLECTED MORE !!! LOL!!! It is bad again! So it is SQUIRRELS doing that ! 😂😂😂 I hear babies in the background !!! LOVE YOUR CRAFT ROOM ! ❤️

So cute. This Ontario gal has those pine cones in her back yard. You can fray the other end of the scarf easily. Just pull out the cross threads one by one until you get the desired length of fray.

Congrats on your new studio and your channel issues being resolved! The penguins are adorable! Birds like pinecone seeds when it gets colder and insects become more scarce. Rabbits like to chew on the cones because their teeth grow continuously. Deer will eat them too when they can't find anything else. So yes, hunting for pinecones early is a good idea! I just take the best looking ones and leave the rest for the critters, because they won't care what they look like :) Baking soda can be added to craft paint too to make it thicker (like chalk paint) and it's something you probably already have in the house. I'm a new subscriber (to both of your channels) and have been binge-watching both! Keep up the great work! You and your husband are a great example of how couples can work together.

Just a quick lil note sweetie. I have collected penguins for decades. Adorable!!! but just a lil note. They don’t have wings baby as they do not fly they only have flippers. Lol. Jest lettin you know. But great job these are awesome!

Adorable, got me thinking that they could also be decor pieces if you covered stiff cardboard with the felt feet! My daughter loves to make a winter scene on her table, how cute they would look! Blessed and safe days!

I have both gray squirrels and red squirrels (very territorial, even with people); they hold the cones like a corn cob, and eat the scales down to the core. Mine are full of resin and the squirrels appear to have no problem eating those as well. Be careful with the fungus, some is extremely toxic if it gets on your skin. A fungus identification book is a very useful and fascinating purchase.

Too cute! Penguins are just such adorable creatures. I made a large standing penguin out of a gourd and used a wooden heart shape for feet. You could make these standing pine cone penguins the same way. Your new studio is awesome. Jealous of all the space!

I can totally relate to the joy you felt finding those pinecones. It’s the little things that make me so happy too! Those penguins are super cute. Last year I gathered pinecones and made tiny Christmas trees, mounted on wood slices from a fallen tree on our property.

If you are looking for another idea for your show, you can make gnomes with your pinecones. Just put a Santa type hat on them and a bead for the nose. They are really cute. Love when you made penguins before and enjoyed watching you have so much fun making some more.

These are so cute I'm going to give them a stop sign and use them as gifts for the cross walk guards at my kids school. I collected so many of those exact pine cones this year and now I have another project to do with them.
