Get into the holiday season with your own light up DIY Filipino Parol Lantern!
After seeing Disney’s short holiday ad, we were inspired to make our own!
The lantern decoration is something Filipinos traditionally display during Christmastime.
It actually goes all the way back to when the Philippines were Spanish colonies. Similar to Hispanic holiday tradition, people carried small lights during a nine day Christmas Novena procession.
Parols were rectangular in shape too until the Philippines was colonized by America. Symbolizing the Star of Bethlehem, the current star shape soon became the standard.
