I was looking for grip material for compression socks. There is nothing out there! I am a senior and wanted to make my compression socks (which I love but have to be careful not to slip) safer - not buy new non-compression socks! I stumbled upon your DIY and ordered some of the Dimensional Fabric Paint right away! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I will definitely use this on the booties I crochet for friends' toddlers. I made a big mistake just putting them as is on my own children and they were slipping all over the house, eek!

Currently 37 weeks pregnant and preparing in my last few weeks for my first birth. I HATE the hospital socks because they're just flat tubes, with no foot dimension and the extra fabric is a huge texture pet peeve. It'll be great to wear socks during labor that I fit my feet without risk of slipping.

I will definitely try this. I love wearing slippers around the house but mine have mysteriously disappeared. So I currently wear some grippy socks. But they're wearing out and I wanted to knit a pair for myself with overleft yarn I have. For warm comfy feet all winter long. Also I have ADHD and ASD (I know it sounds like it doesn't belong here) but I walk into things a lot. And sudden movements are something I do a lot. And I've slipped a ton of times even with grippy socks. I once tried the hot glue method but it left marks on our hardwood floors. I did it for a very slippery carpet we have in front of the main door.

Thanks for the info. I’m planning on crocheting booties for my dog. I took her outside to go potty and it was below 0 degrees and snowing and about 5 inches of snow and she’s so short the snow was touching her belly. She kept putting up her paws trying not to touch the ground or snow since it was too cold. I tried putting a blanket under her but she refused to stand on it and went back inside. I had to have her go potty in the bathtub. Hopefully she’ll feel better if I make her real tall booties and a jacket. But I’ll make sure to crochet socks that fit me first and I’ll test it on me before I try it on my dog.

Great tips! Thanks. Will this work on the INSIDE of socks where there isn't a gel gripper already there? I have cute socks but the heels slip in most of my shoes. Most of my no-show socks come with grippers, but a couple of new cute ones don't and I can't wear them with my Skechers. Thanks!

Thanksss!! My daughter is 6 months. She can not keep her socks on for nothing. I have looked everywhere for crew, high top socks with non slip bottoms and I can not find anywhere! I think your trick will help us alot when she starts to walk!

Has anyone tried this on nylons? I have a pair of heels I love but apparently they're too velvety/microsuede-ish for my nylons and I felt like it was sliding all over the place while walking... I even came straight out of my shoe a few times. I tried inserts and they didn't help at all!

Thank you! My big just turned 2 yr old is growing out of all his non slip socks and I put regular socks on him today and he crashed into the coffee table and got a bruise 😢 on his cheek. I’m going to do this to most of his new socks . I saw something specific for this on amazon and my brain said “hmm I wonder if puffy paint will work”

How the heck do you put the dots on so cleanly? Mine are all uneven even though I'm trying to be careful LOL. Works like a charm though. My one-year-old no longer slips when he goes into the kitchen from the living room.

... I wish I knew this last winter cause I used a glue gun.. I had bought my son little winter boots, but they had no grip and had soft fabric soles and he was already 2 months into walking

I have seen people using a hot glue gun to make the grippy socks. Have you tried this? Is the puffy dimensional fabric paint better? Is there a brand of paint you recommend?

i’m pretty sure if u don’t have tha paint, then hot glue would work fine as a replacement

I guess the only down side is, hot glue harden when dries up, but these fabric paint stay soft(er).

I wonder....if this would work with some pants I have 🤔. They're my favorite pair but can't seem to wear them or I'll end up mooning everyone ( no one wants that) or I'll end up a meme for the crazy Walmart people 😂 anyway I'll give it a try!
