Abbi Berta of The Bead Place shows how to create a simple yet stunning pair of everyday earrings that can easily be dressed up or down. Using 2mm cotton cord, oval jump rings, french hook earring findings, and bezeled Swarovski Crystal Charms, she breaks down this complicated-looking barrel knot variation into easy-to-follow steps to make a beautiful pair of mixed media statement earrings. All tools and materials are from www.beadplace.net.

You are the first person I've ever seen demonstrate how to open a jump ring by using your hands as a giant - read: easily seen - jump ring! Genius! Your close-ups were also excellent! And your speaking pace meant I did NOT need to continually to rewind! 😄 Girl , you are a born teacher! Ive made jewelry for years, so I already knew that. BUT, many videos go too fast and obscure their demos with poor camera angles, and poor close-ups of critical explanations. Keep it up. I will look for more advanced videos from you.

These are super duper cute! I like how you include you doing their second earring in fast motion instead of going from the first one being made and then go jump cutting to them just both existing. Nice touch!

Thanks so much! I figured it would give the viewers another look at how I tie the knot in case the first earring wasn’t clear enough. 😜

I have watched a lot of videos but you have to be the best that I have seen so far. Really good non irritating beautiful voice lol Sometimes the music in the back ground can drive me crazy too which you don't have and some voices make me cringe . Yay so happy I found you!! Thank you for doing these beautiful earrings!!! Love, love , love them.

Excited to go try this knotting technique, thanks for the tips! I might use a toothpick to apply the glue because I always make a mess when trying to apply it right from the tube lol.

Glad to hear it! Great idea! If I would have been filming at the shop, I probably would have used a syringe tip glue like G-S Hypocement in order to get the glue placement a little bit more precise and intentional but ya know... quarantine. 🙃😝

Enjoyed seeing your version of this type of earrings. With this type of woven cord I would use an awl or perhaps a toothpick to apply glue as this type of glue doesn’t dry nicely and would stain the cord; not a way I finish my jewelry.

Thanks. Yep, we’re following our state’s mandated stay-at-home order so I’m doing the best I can with what I have at home. I mentioned GS Hypocement in the beginning of the video as a suggestion because I like its needle applicator. I usually prefer to insert it directly in the knot rather than using a toothpick or an awl, but to each their own! Whatever works best for you, go for it! Differences are what make the world go ‘round. Hope you’re safe and well and I appreciate you watching and commenting.
