I absolutely LOVE a good, soft, and moist vanilla cake on some days and on others what’s better than the same old classic chocolate cake? So today, I am sharing an Eggless Vanilla Cake & Chocolate Cake recipe with you which can be used in your kitchen as a sponge for a layered cake or as a simple tea cake!

Ingredients:
For vanilla cake -
2 + ¼ (270g) all-purpose flour
1 ½ teaspoon (6g) baking powder
1 ½ cup (428g) yogurt
1/2 teaspoon (3g) baking soda
1 + ¼ cup (280g) caster sugar
¾ cup (180ml) vegetable oil
1 ½ teaspoon (7ml) vanilla extract
For chocolate cake -
¾ cup (90g) cocoa powder
¾ cup (180ml) hot water
1 tablespoon (12g) coffee powder
1 + ½ cup (300g) caster sugar
¾ cup (180ml) vegetable oil
1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
1 cup (285g) yogurt
1 + ½ cup (180g) flour
1 teaspoon (4g) baking powder
½ teaspoon (3g) baking soda
Pinch of salt

I usually don’t leave comments but I used this recipe for the chocolate and It’s the moistest chocolate cake I’ve ever made. I didn’t have yogurt so I used sour cream but it’s still came out delicious. I also made chocolate buttercream and a chocolate ganache to top. So good!

I baked this on stovetop, in a nonstick vessel, turned out yummy! I reduced the sugar quantity and topped with melted white chocolate instead. It was yummmmyyy! Thank you shivesh!

i forgot buying yogurt so I'll use cream chease. This cake had a signifiance in my Life in August. I am rebaking it now while my husband is here. Let's see. I had enjoyed it with friends and enjoyed my independence as a mother (as my husband was in France.) Now I will make it for him as a surprise ! Shivesh, you are the best chef I'll ever see on KZfaq. I have tried both of them so many times and they turn out PERFECT each time. It's just so decadent, indulgent and just so intense it's mind blowing. The only downside is that due to the yoghurt the sponge gets really soft so if you're cutting layers handle it very carefully.

The cake batter was a bit hard so I added 1 tbsp of milk. Also I baked for 45 mins for the cake to come out perfect! It tastes amazing 😇

Tried the vanilla cake today and OMG!! IT CAME OUT REALLY FLUFFY, MOIST AND TASTED AMAZING!! I used 1 cup of granulated sugar instead of castor and had to cook mine for an additional 40mins (Total cooking time took me around 1h15mins) ONLY because I used a "glass cake pan". Your cooking time will differ depending on your oven and cake pan! So no need to panic guys MINE still came out perfectly and is now my fav go to eggless recipe 🤗❤️

Tried your chocolate cake recipe and the cake came out perfect. Made some tweaks - 1.added 3/4 cup sugar instead of 1+1/2. 2.added 1/2 hot almond milk 3. Used ghee instead of oil. Best cake I ever baked ❤Thanks for sharing the recipe.

Hi Shivesh, Firstly, thanks for sharing your passionate baking experiences with us. Your forever smile 😃 makes it more interesting all together. I tried both Vanilla and Chocolate Vanilla cakes and here is my experience - 1. Vanilla cake was a just perfect and delicious. Texture, color, moistness and taste was just as expected. 2. Chocolate Vanilla cake was a bit challenging as I generally use Dutch processed cocoa powder instead of regular cocoa powder. 2.a. This required more baking time 2.b. 3/4th cup of Dutch processed cocoa powder made it too rich in taste and heavy too. To alter this, the 2nd time when I baked, I reduced the cocoa powder to 1/2 a cup and it just came out perfect...both taste and texture. Overall, both your recipes were just amazing. Thanks once again for sharing them and keep smiling 😃 Regards, Shashi

I baked chocolate cake with the recipe but i used 1 6inch and other 7inch pan to bake. Cut the 6inch cake into half and 7inch cake used a third layer for a chocolate truffle cake. Used sugar syrup, choclate ganache and some tropolite whipping cream (coloured) in the middle and for frosting. Used edible pearls and flowers. How wonderful it was and how amazing it turned out.
