When loofah is young, it is a gourd that has flesh that can be substituted for meat. When the fruit is unharvested and left on the vine, it dries out and becomes the same product that people use as a defoliant.

Can I ask why your loaf mold is asymmetrical from top to bottom (3 inches vs 4 inches)? Does Brambleberry sell any perfectly rectangular symmetrical loaf molds? I would really prefer a rectangular final product so my soap can be cut into uniform squares/rectangles. Great videos, though, I subscribed! I'm an amateur soapifier (saponifier? soapmaker? hehe) and your videos are SUCH a big help.

Hi Fa! Loofah is a little bit of a more intense exfoliant, so I would recommend using it very gently on the body. If you are looking for other exfoliant options, I would recommend trying jojoba beads, or walnut shells. You can find more exfoliant options here: www.brambleberry.com/Exfoliants-C158.aspx

Not necessarily - because the two have fairly different textures, it can sometimes be tricky to apply a cold process technique to melt and pour soap or vice versa. What look are you going for? Let me know and I can suggest some tutorials! =)

I've reviewed several recipes that my aunt uses for soap, as well as online, and the amount of fragrance or essential oils used is considerably less than these amounts. With the price of these fragrances, why use so much? At 0.75 oz each, the price of those fragrances is around $4.00, which is nearly half the price (or less if buying in bulk) of the oils, lye, and colorants. I guess one could use that much fragrance or essential oil, but from what I've seen, it doesn't require that much. My aunt uses a fraction of that amount, and the soaps still smell wonderful and the scent is not overwhelming.
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry 7 жыл бұрын
You can definitely add less fragrance if you like! Our Fragrance Calculator has a light, medium and strong option: www.brambleberry.com/Pages/Fragrance-Calculator.aspx I tend to like strongly scented soap, so I usually go with the highest recommendation. If you prefer a lighter scent you can definitely use less. =)

How can you say it's healthy when you start with the microwave? Just put whatever you need to melt into a small stainless steal sauce pan & there you have it. Also, instead of plastic it's much more economical to use paper bags. Plus you save the price of the hot gun. Otherwise I love the idea to combine Loofah with soap!

No my dear soapqueen, we don't eat loofah. We eat the delicious gourd that loofah comes from which is called by many other names. The gourds that become overipe or dried out, essentially a reject, becomes loofah. It is not called "loofah" until then. If you ever visit Asia and ask for 'loofah curry' people will think you are crazy.
