Kinda annoying seeing these comments about her being able to afford her nails and makeup as if it's somehow assumed the reason she is fishing is because she's poor. Where in the video does it state she's fishing because she can't afford it? Use common sense people, it's just a video of someone showing one of many ways to catch fish. Furthermore, shame on some of you for assuming. Not all countries do whatever you do, enjoy buying your things, and let others do it themselves. I mean how do you think the food you buy gets to your store? Magic?

I have to say out of all the videos, not including the cat vids, this is near the top for entertainment. She should patent that thing. And loved all the "tools" to make it like the cleaver, and hacksaw (no handle) and wood chop sticks. This is pure innovation. The stringer was an amazing surprise. She would put all the tackle stores out of business.

Something about these videos of smart girls and smart boys seems off. They never look happy doing any of this, and how they film them walking off seems odd. Almost like they are advertising the people in the video .

sovegodt Fish dont feel pain. They also dont really think beyond "eat" and "breath." They are essentially little more than Organic Machines. Just like most insects, Single cell organisms, plants and fungus. They simply lack the processing power to understand "pain" and "suffering" just like a tree does not feel it when you cut it down.

So I'm sure this woman could buy her own fish at the store if she wanted, judging by the dyed hair, bracelets, and access to good knives and such. But this is actually a good way to catch fish, it's almost more humane than what you buy at the store. Those store-bought fish are raised in overpopulated small areas with no room to swim around. They never get to "be a fish" the way wild ones do. So the fish that this woman is catching got to live in the wild and be free, and live a more fulfilling life than store-bought fish did. The only thing that could be considered bad is the grass through the gills. But it's a common way to transport fish all over the world.

She used a vine as a stringer. It's not passed through the throat--from the mouth to the gill plates is open on both sizes and quite large. Fish "breath" when not swimming by opening their mouth with gill plates closed to bring in water, then close mouth and open gill plates to move the water through in a pumping action.

Brilliant and this girl is truly talented. One small caveat. I wish someone would teach her 7:10 about humane methods of handling the fish after capture. Seeing the fish treated this way after they were taken out of the water broke my heart a little. They should be kept in water, period, so they can breathe. Then they should be killed with clove oil as it is swift and painless and not traumatic for the fish. These fish suffered and died an undignified, tragic, sad and painful death, similar to a human being drowning or being hanged. The clove oil method is economical and efficient and it has been scientifically validated as the optimal method for safety and humane practices, both for the fish dying and the being consuming it after the fact. Additionally, clove oil, believe it or not, has been shown to produce the best-tasting fish, as it results in dramatically fewer stress hormones being released (which, by nature, compromise the quality, freshness, texture and taste of the flesh) without any undue influence of its own on the taste of the fish. I wish more people knew about it. But no judgment on the girl. Maybe we could all chip in a few bucks and send her a huge supply of clove oil with a nice note of praise and encouragement and the info about the clove oil. We are all going to die someday. If we are going to be food for another being, and there is any possibility at all of our own suffering, stress, trauma and pain being mitigated during our death and last moments, I think we would all like to take that option. It makes sense that we would then extend that courtesy to other species, as our human species has stewardship and province over so much of the earth. With so much of the internet rightfully inspired by this girl's ingenuity, effecting such a small but meaningful change seems within reach. #Peace

I plan on using clove oil for crayfish and maybe minnows.... It apparently works for lobsters too. I would warn people to NOT pour the water with clove oil into the lake or river they caught the fish from, as it is potent and may affect other fish... Pour it out somewhere AWAY from any lake, river, pond or stream... There's nothing wrong with wanting a humane death for other creatures you are going to eat... Most other animals that hunt/ fish don't have the tool-making ability we have, and so the prey can die cruelly... I don't think people realize that when nature seems cruel, it's a lack of tool-making ability that might well be the problem NOT intent. But people then use that as an excuse, saying "nature is cruel" when, really, a big part of it is they hunt with what they have..... WE, on the other hand, have the ability to be able to figure out human ways to kill our prey... our choice to not do so is not lack of ability (as with other animals) but, it seems, bias and laziness.... having the ability we point to other creatures who do not and use their inability as an excuse to continue to use cruel methods.... Or look down on other creatures as lesser or mere food resources rather than sentient beings (which they ARE, apparently). Being omnivores, we can survive on only meat or only plants, but to be truly healthy we need to eat from both. That doesn't mean we have to be jerks or cruel about it. Yes, even fish are sentient... yet many fish eat other fish, so when they are caught by us or birds they probably expect they would have been caught by something eventually. I doubt being swallowed whole by another fish or bird is a painless death, yet even those fish and birds need to eat, there is no cruel intent there at all... so if we can lessen the fish's pain and distress, all the better because we have the ability... the bird or fish doesn't... especially the other fish... Whether they think about it or not is speculation, we really don't know what other predators think or feel about hunting, we DO know they need to do it to survive but other than that, we don't know. But we do know that we think various things about it, depending on the person... So I am glad someone figured out how to use an extraction from a simple plant (clove oil) to anesthetize, and even humanely kill, small fish and crustaceans... because they cared, the sought a solution, they learned and the rest of us have the knowledge available. This is our gift, our talent as humans.... we are the tool-makes, the inventors, and so while many mock, some find the solution. I think it only anesthetizes crustaceans, but that's still better than nothing. Crayfish, for instance, have a nervous system with with "brain" nodes throughout their body, so chopping off the head doesn't do anything.... so using an anesthetic for them is a good idea.

I think that she is smart, for finding a way to feed her and her family. I never thought of making something so simple and cheap. And the grass thing at the end is just like a regular fish stringer fishermen been using for years. The fish are still a live, because she went thru the gills and out the mouth

All animals were crated for a reason, and none of those reasons are to be eaten. Whether it's too control the population of other animals, or to move seeds from one place to another, no animal was created to be eaten. By the way, this comment is just made out of pure stupidity.

People who live the fisherman life all know how to do this by a young age in developing countries it's about fishing for survival. She seems to come from that type of family probably learned this from her father, mother etc .. I wouldn't say she is necessarily smart but she knows survival skills out of necessity you can tell by the way she handles the materials and the actual cheap materials she uses is very resourceful the type of resourcefulness that comes from extreme poverty . She seems to be in a better situation now but still enjoys the same foods etc .

I'm wondering what this girl's story is. Her hair and nails and attire indicate some level of wealth. But her ability and knowledge of fishing like this indicate that she's had to struggle at some point. Very interesting.

impractical design..as it will let only fish of specific size to enter into the vent of that trap. and a few hole at the bottom of that trap would ease the lifting process of it..as extra water will drain out when it will be lifted up..and that would reduce its weight and make it easy to carry.

People saying; "Oh she can afford pretty nails and clothes but not to buy her own fish from the market????" MAYBE she is able to afford pretty nails and clothes because she goes fishing herself?? It's the same damn process if u buy it from the market just through another person. I bet you this is one of the nicest ways of catching fish, letting them swim in a tank instead of freaking impaling it with a freaking metalhook up it's jaw?? (The grassthing was a little rude though) edit; holy shit, 100+ ? this is so cool :D
