TIPS AND FAQ: Bonus Tip: Hit up your local hardware store that cuts wood and ask if you can fill up a bucket with sawdust. My local just ended up giving me a huge bag that hardly fit in my car. Enough for a life time or to start a small business. Bonus Bonus Tip: In order to avoid the awkwardness when they ask "what for?" say it's for "Hobby stuff, like model trains", everyone knows a weird guy who collects model trains. FAQ: When I mention quality paints, I'm referring to 'artist quality' paints (as opposed to 'student quality' paints). You want strong pigments and fast drying times if you want your flock to dry fast. Some paints are designed to dry slowly, some are designed to dry quickly. Do a quick google search and find out what paints are avalible to you and their drying times. I'm using Jo Sonja paints because they're fast drying and have strong pigments at about $6 a pop. Winsor and Newton paints have strong pigments and are designed to dry slowly. You can use house paint as well - generally strong pigments and fast drying. You can buy house paint in sample pot sizes, and while it's more expensive upfront, you'll get more bang for your buck long term.

I went to a Lowes and asked for some saw dust, even offered to scoop it off the floor because it was everywhere, when the guy called his manager over to ask she acted like I wanted to steal something lol Drove across the street to home depot and got more than I could ever use and they wanted to give me more.

Your spirit is consistently inspiring. Like I love your creations, but I think the reason your chanel is so good, is the fact that you show how you enjoy the process, how you embrace your creativity, and how you take what could be seen as mistake, as a way to progress or as "happy accidents". I love your videos, man.

Great stuff I have found ink and methylated sprites drys really fast for homemade flock and looks really vibrant, also if you make blue/yellow/red ect and sprinkle on static flock you can make great wild flowers.

I have done this for a while now. Its so easy and the after an afternoon I can have an insane amount of tubs with every colour and scale imaginable. Also, I use cheap paints and if I need to I even water it down. I also do a little woodwork so I use the shavings from that. It looks great!

I was about to throw out a lot of old herbal tea bags of different kinds and put them on our compost pile. When I tore the bags open I realised that they were not to be thrown away. All different textures and earthy colours. I used them 'as is', just gluing them down. No need to paint them. I dabbed chalk powder in places for more light/shadow.

Thank you for another great video! I really enjoy your voice and the general calm you project. Since i began watching your videos i look at things a bit different and wonder how they could be used to create something cool. You mentioned quality paints, would the acrylic tubes found at the art store suffice? Or is there certain type required?
@Miscast5 жыл бұрын
Thank you, that is very kind and great to hear. I buy acrylic tube paints from the art store, I use mostly Jo Sonja brand which is a brand that dries fast. It cost me about $5USD a tube. You want 2 things from a tube of paint for this project in particular (for optimal performance) 1. Strong Pigments (which I've found I get from basically any brand around the $5-6 mark) 2. Fast drying times, some brands are designed to dry fast, some are designed to dry slowly, you can find out which is which by googling the 'brand + drying time' That being said, if you can afford to, try a couple of different brands in the same price bracket and see what works best for you. ALSO You can use house paint and buy it in small sample pots, which I find really useful for terrain building, and it's generally quality paint that dries fast. But that can cost a bit more upfront, but you'll save money in the long run.
@remarkzero5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for expanding on the paint types. I am forward to your next video. 👍

How there. I wonder if you can help me. I came across your video because flocking kits were a bit expensive here in UK. I have a pair of black flock boots which were quite expensive and still fairly new. They are supposed to be faux suede. I spilled something on the toe of one so I sponged it with a damp cloth and now the toe is bald of flock. Will your method work if I seive it several times and what should I use to stick it on with please? Many thanks in anticipation, Brenda
