What the world needs now is love sweet love it’s the only thing that there’s just too little of. Our great God is love and he made us in his image so let’s try to show these attributes. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Gina is sharing her passion, talent, kindness but most of all love with you. She’s not saying or doing anything that should offend anyone. At a time like this with this crisis going on, really are we ought to be trying to hurt anyone’s feelings? If you can’t say anything good about someone say nothing at all. Thank you Gina for your love and kindness!

Well I don't know how this video got into my feed but half an hour later I've already made and eaten a half recipe of these delish fry cakes. I made 4 with the recipe cut in half so they were a nice size and my husband had a butter & honey and a butter & powdered sugar and I had two butter & jams. I did one at a time in a small pan so I wouldn't use up too much oil. I did the flour test to make sure the oil was hot. It was very quick and easy and we loved them, so thank you Gina!

Being part native american that didn't grow up on a reservation so I didn't get the opportunity to learn many traditions I'm always looking for ways to learn some and these look awesome to me. As for her saying you guys, why do some people get so bent outta shape over such things. I loved the calm pleasant way she talked. We all need kindness right now. Thank you for a great looking fry bread recipe. I have made it before, but like to try different recipes to see if maybe its better then the one I make, which calls for everything except the milk. I think the milk probably will make it fluffier.

She developed a technique called, Neimology. I think you would be very interested in her material because it may align with what you contribute. She sees personality traits in people's NAMES. Sharon (pronounced SHA-RONE, like the Rose on Sharon) has written 2 books and also has a website with all her radio interviews posted in ,mp3 format. Wow! Lady, you almost made me cry this morning. I love you so much. When I awakened this morning, while still in bed, I opened up You Tube, and saw this video, and as usual, I was excited about watching it, but something happened. As you started making it and adding the ingredients, I realized that this is something I grew up on. I think every Puerto Rican mom and grandmom made this a few times a week. We call them, Arepas, Yaniqueclas,, and Domplines. We make it the exact same way. OMG. I use to love helping her make them. I looked forward to it, because I would always beg her to cut me off a piece. She would add food coloring to it, and that was my Playdough. Hey, we were poor. I didn’t know it. I just knew it was fun. Anywho, we ate this fried bread for dinner, with Codfish Stew, but my favorite way was with grape jelly or with honey, and early in the morning, my mom would fry up a batch and eat hers along with piping hotBustelo coffee, but just black with sugar. OMG!!! The memories you’ve stirred up, lady. I really do believe that people are more alike than different. Thanks for this recipe, Gina. My mom passed in 1998. I didn’t hv the recipe, but I do, now. Thanks to you.

I love fry bread as a staple bread. Your recipe is very similar to what i grew up on. Im Cherokee. The only difference is that we used a little powdered milk and real buttermilk (the milk that is left after making butter). We also left our dough in the bowel covered with a damp cloth to let it rest for 30 to 45 minutes before cutting, balling, pressing out, and then frying. I love that your grandma taught you this. It is a perfect recipe for kids to join in on.

Please try this and of course, video it. We call it toutons. Love it, enjoy your videos. Thanks

That is AMAZING advice, to get kids involved in cooking at a young age, and give them the MEMORIES, to instill a lifelong interest - and ability - in cooking!

I SO love watching these REAL, unedited videos that KZfaq cut its teeth on in the early days. It’s also refreshing not to hear a 5-minute spiel about “hitting the like and subscribe” buttons and product promos. This is a real woman cooking in her kitchen and sharing with whomever wants to watch, and it’s a beautiful thing.

Thank you so much, my mom used to make this for us when we were kids. Her's was a bit thinner batter, she never rolled hers out. She would just drop them in the skillet and fry them like corn fritters. She used more milk than you. We used butter and syrup or honey if we had it. Best thing ever. I never knew how she made this. She got Alzheimer and was never able to tell me. My mom had her recipes in her head. My mom and grandmothers called this poor man's bread. I've been looking everywhere on how to make these.

I’m going to have to make this with my grandson’s, they love watching me cook & the 14 yr old loves having me teach him how. We made homemade sausage gravy just over a month ago & he couldn’t believe just how easy it was. Next it’s biscuits & he says PLEASE chocolate ~mint fudge 😂

In The Kitchen With Gina Young, Oh, I'm so glad I found you! I've NEVER made this bread, but I have made fried Cornbread. Also, I don't know where I got this habit, but I put down Wax Paper to work on with flour. Cleanup is really easy. I love your Channel Gina. I will share it.
@jimsqueenie5 жыл бұрын
I used to use wax paper underneath my kneading but now I roll my dough into dough balls for pies, cover with saran wrap and put them into the refrigerator to rest. Then when I take them out to roll them, i flatten out the dough ball onto the saran wrap with flour sprinkled. I make sure I also put a piece on top of the flattened dough ball. Makes easy work and clean up.
@vernellmurray51915 жыл бұрын
I used waxed paper as well...but I have used a big platter, and the clean counter...they all work great...

O my goodness Gina... I followed this recipe & this is so darn delicious.... I have been wanting to learn how to make my own bread for years now. I can't stand purchasing bread at the grocery store because it always get stale too fast. & seems It loses it's fine taste before you can get it home. Now I can make my our with wheat flour & stay on top of my diabetes... Gina I put that butter on it & it all melted in my mouth... The best bread I've ever tasted. Our grandmother's knew what was best for her family. Thank you for sharing her recipe... God Bless you.

My mom made This when I was a kid p.she called them fried bread fritters..she would stretch them until nearly pulling though..then fry them in hot lard until golden brown..take them out and butter them while still hot then flip them on a plate of white granulated sugar...better than any donut I have ever had...mm mm mm going to try this one!

It’s resurrection Sunday 💐 and we are Quarantined. I found this video. I’m going to try your grandmothers method. I’ve seen others but I really like the way you’re doing this. I do make flour tortillas and fried cornbread on occasion. So thank you for helping me to pass some time in a positive Loving way, and making me feel loved and appreciated which when I make this I know I will be. May God bless you and yours amen 🙏 P. S. Another way to check oil for heated is a wooden spoon or wooden chopstick you place thin end down to bottom when bubbles come up immediately your oil is ready. Don’t leave the chop stick in you just dip it down to check no bubbles appear not hot enough. Bubbles come up it’s ready. I like this method as it adds no extra flour or popping in the oil. I like both methods tho. I love the grandma story. This will be a favorite I’m certain. 🌎🙏🌍

I was born and raised in Northwest IN, about 50 mi. away from Chicago, IL. We always said "you guys". I still say you guys. Nothing wrong with that. I think it's pretty petty to comment on how a person talks. That fry bread looks so good!

I lost my mother 43 years ago. This brought back a memory for me. My mother did our laundry, and made homemade yeast bread on Mondays. She saved out some of the dough, cooked up a pot of dried brown beans, stretched that dough till there were a few holes in it, and fried it to go with our beans for supper. So good!!!
