If you wanted to use the 4 square method for some reason, couldn't you just cut the fabric on bias to avoid the problem with stretchy seams? I'm new to quilting and still trying to get my head around all the aspects one needs to consider. So thank you for this tutorial, it's been a real eye opener for me.👏❤️😊

Ya know, I’ve never thought of that. I would try it out and see how it works! I honestly never use the four at a time method. I do 2 or 8 at a time 👏🏻🤓

Thank you so much for the chart. Not keen on doing this sort of maths 😂. Is it the same for the 8 hst as the 2 hst for the stretch (bias) in the fabric. Stretching of the hst’s. New to quilting. Just getting used to the terminology of things. Thanking you again from cloudy UK 😊 x

You're very welcome! And no, the 2 at a time and 8 at a time will not have the same bias stretch as the 4 at a time method. If I just need a few HSTs I do the 2 at a time, and if I need a whole bunch, I do the 8 at a time. I rarely do the 4 at a time because they're a little more tricky to work with because of the stretch. I hope that helps!

Thank you for this ! I have a question… when you mark a line down the center of the 5” square, you say to sew on either side of the line. But you sewed on both sides of the line. Just a little confused. Did you mean to …. Stitch a quarter inch line on both sides of the pen mark ?
@StitchObsessed
@StitchObsessed 2 ай бұрын
Ha! I can see how that would sounds confusing! Yes, you sew 1/4” away from that center line on both sides of the line like how I demonstrated in the video.

Thank you for this great halfsquare triangle tutorial and the pdf. Super helpful! If I want to use the 8 at a time method to make star point squares of, say, 2" finished size, do I have to cut my centre square at 4 and a half inches? 🤔 (I'm new to quilting and maths is not my strong point 😂) Thanks❤
@StitchObsessed
@StitchObsessed 2 ай бұрын
So the half square triangles you will be using will be 2" finished? I think I'm understanding that correctly. Yes, your center square would then need to be 4 1/2"! You've got this!
