Glad to see a young person get involved with this part of the hobby! I started this more than 60 yrs ago and my thirst led me to wood construction and electronics, eventually electrical transmission and distribution. Even got a hand in arts, crafts and landscaping. yes. i use this for my amtrak baggage car as rear marker lights for my train. they can also be used as a lighting source for passenger cars. the possibilities are endless as it can be used on DCC or DC either direction.
