About the duration, it depends upon you that how you maintain them. And about the starch, I don't know as I don't wash because it doesn't gets dirty.

- If I understand your question - it's my experience, using a store bought fabric stiffener as a substitution forthe corn starch, and have showered while wearing the earrings I've made from her designs, and they've remained stiff. Of course, you could always crochet a quick circle and then starch them, wait a day, and then apply water, to see how they hold up.
