incorrect...this uses a standard piezoelectric disc that is fine in air or water unlike other types of discs

does the disc has to be submerged into water or it can float on top ? (of the water)

Depends on the type of disk. Some should be floating on the water and some should be in the water. I recommend using the first model

The latter might be able to produce more vapor but is prone to sputtering water droplets, which can be noisy, but might be ok with an angled design, so long as the droplets drop inside the tube still. I haven’t tried this personally,

The problem here is that all you're doing is taking some pre-existing hardware and attaching it to different container and different arrangements nothing brilliant about this at all unless you have a schematic for the driver board that would be interesting then I could make one too but at this point it doesn't help me any better than you know I may as well go to my local hardware and take it part of humidifier and and while I have my own atomizer or Miss maker whatever you want to call it it
