A Personally Procured Move (PPM)-formerly known as a Do-It-Yourself or DITY Move-is a Department of Defense program to pay service members to move their household goods. Service members are reimbursed 100% of the government's estimated costs for moving their belongings to their next duty station.

For the ppm move do I weight the empty and full truck at the departure location?

I plan to do a sale before moving. Wonder if I get the total max weight reimbursement even when I move with much less weight. My plan is to make money and buy new stuff when I finally move.

If we use a GTC, do we still have the opportunity to make money this way? I've heard that we only will get reimbursed for the cost on the card so Im confused

If I’m doing a partial ppm, and pulling a car on a trailer. Do I weigh it with the trailer or without the car and trailer?

Thank you so much for this video!! I have recently retired and am starting a new job this month. My company offers a relocation service that packs out my home just as a PCS would. Since I "personally procured" this move by getting the job, am I still entitled to the reimbursement from Uncle Sam??

Do these apply the same to service members transitioning to guard units? He will not be active and will transition to the guard he’s currently active

If he is separating and going guard then you should qualify for one last household goods move. Then you could do a PPM.

When I retire and I elect to do a DITY move, how would I go about reimbursement? This wasn't covered in TAPs. I plan on moving from NM to NC but my home of record is Dallas, Tx. Would I get reimbursed the out-of-pocket to NC or just the cost associated if I would have gone back to TX?

somewhat. I talked to TMO and they said I would have to get a weight before and after my HHG where in the truck and then file a voucher when I get to NC. No idea how much I could make on doing the move myself or if it will be worth it or not.

I have a travel trailer that weights 7,500lbs. My weight limit is 8,000lbs. Does my camper count toward my weight limit? Any response , tips , information would be greatly appreciate, thanks in advance.

So per what you said, about doing PPM. So you are saying that if you are authorized 8000k of house hold goods, but you only end up moving 5000 of house hold good. They will pay the rest of the 3000?? Dont you have to weight your truck empty and full anyways? And then submit the ticket?

@@contextclue if you are authorized 8000lbs and you only move 5000lbs, they will only pay you for the 5000lbs.

If I am doing a PPM, am I correct in thinking that is it beneficial for me to find the cheapest moving truck I can? In other words, I’m not going to be reimbursed for the cost of the truck specifically, but instead will deduct whatever I pay for the truck from the total amount the Army allots me based on rank, defendants, weight, distance, etc?

Yes, you want to keep your costs as low as possible.

Update. You only need a Full weight ticket.

Can Confirm this DMO told me today you only need to weight the moving truck full. The only time you weight something empty is if you are moving a POV and claiming it with (HHG) inside of it.
