I make $3-$5k a month publishing on Amazon but I've found a very specific niche, and there's a lot of research involved. My email list is 15,000+ which I think is the biggest factor into how much my royalties have grown the past year. I started publishing when I was 16, 13 years ago. It's not for the faint of heart. Most people give up before they see much success. But if you're really passionate about what your writing (or publishing what other people write) and marketing, you can make it. I write my own novels.

Great advice! I totally agree. I have published 2 books and the marketing is the most important step. It's crazy to think that the traditional publisher will take 80% and the author only 20%. Learning to become a marketer is not an option if you want to make a living from your writing. Thanks for this.

Hi Stefan, thank you for the insight. Do you think a similar approach you describe in your video can be used for "how to" educational videos to be published on educational websites? I am an architect and I'm good in visual/ drawing skills but not as much in writing. Do you think there is a potential in making money by showing people how to draw or and the process of design?

My biggest struggle is the marketing for my ebooks. I just published the audiobook for my children's books!
