I’m working on Einaudi pieces… i love his work. Is incredible how he is able to do so much with so less… I’m practicing a piece that is 12 min long and although the left hand is very easy hes able to make a 12min piece that doesn’t bore me at all 😂 it’s very emotional music i find 😊

I discovered Einaudi 20 years ago and was blown away.Saw him in concert years ago and took my wife.As a heavy rock chick she was blown away by the beauty of the music . The beauty lies in the silence between notes

Not surprising that Ludovico Einaudi's music is similar to Adele. If you knew Einaudi's background, it would make sense as he loves different types of music, from popular to classical to jazz. Einaudi embraces different perspective and cultures ... Have a listen to Ludovico Einaudi feat. Mercan Dede & Hugh MarshLa Musica dei Cieli (The Music of Heaven); or his collaboration under the name of Whitetree (Cloudland). Simple doesn't means easy and most that play his music are unable to grasp the nuances in his performance which also makes his music very special ... much like a singer with a vocal style such as Adele. I am happy that you appreciate his "CANTABILE ..." technique. Einaudi is also a wonderful improviser ....

Thanks for the suggested pieces. Many of the Einauldi pieces use popular piano progressions but packaged in a classical way. I definitely hear that most in his music. It's interesting you mentioned he is also influenced by jazz. I notice no influence of jazz in his music, the harmonies are so clean there are no dissonance or any jazz progressions, but if you recommend any pieces that are influenced by jazz I'd be fascinated in hearing them! He has definitely mastered his niche.

I just noticed it, it is weird actually, I never saw that before. It's my beloved Chopin book "Chopin: pianist and teacher" - an incredible book about how Chopin approached his teaching, and he was an exceptional teacher, not just a pianist.....I can't explain what happened there ..... thanks for bringing it to my attention....

Godard's movie Weekend has a music virtuoso performing in the countryside who observes that Mozart is too simple for children and too hard for virtuosi. So all parallel dominants now?
@contemporaryschoolofpiano
@contemporaryschoolofpiano 4 ай бұрын
I don't think Mozart is too simple for children - that comment has just a bit too much Hollywood to it, rather than reality. Otherwise, every child would be playing Mozart concerti with ease. But I would say Mozart's music, has a child-like innocence to it, but underneath the innocence is an incredible complexity and intensity. A bit like a very fine wine. Easy to drink, but still complex...

I wish I could understand the appeal of Einaudi's music - and good luck to all those who want to copy the style. If you regard endlessly repeated arpeggios, motifs and banal modulations as musically satisfying, well, what can I say. As for me, I think watching paint dry would be more stimulating. Just saying.

Hi Roger. Yes, it's definitely not everyone's cup of tea! As a music education specialist, it's not the best practice to comment on students' taste in music. I've had many students over the years start with Einauldi and develop their tastes with further examples including Arvo Paart, Gorecki, and Phillip Glass. Regarding teaching this music, I don't see the point in teaching a student to blindly follow the score or sheet music when they can see how simple the formulas behind the music are. This generally is a more effective way to help a music enthusiast develop their musical awareness and progress their musical tastes and abilities.
@rogernichols1124
@rogernichols1124 3 ай бұрын
@contemporaryschoolofpian I would never comment on a student's tastes in music but I think that all students should be encouraged to explore different genres and formulate aesthetic judgements. It comes with age and experience but if I'd not explorer beyond the music of Handel as a boy, I would have remained fixated by the Baroque and denied the adventure of every composer thereafter. It's hoe we grow. Emotionally. Musically. A diet of Einaudi is like bread and jam and blunts the palate.
