The closest thing to me is Jimmy’s Italian Grocery…the same Jimmy’s the Brooklyn Brothers talk about in their videos. They have great sandwiches in their deli, but since I moved out of the city, it’s a bit of a trek to stop by there anymore. I miss it tremendously. Once in a while on a Saturday, however, I’ll take the time to go in to Dallas to get one.

I grew up in Hoboken cross the river from NYC and thought food heaven was a classic Italian hero with a splash of wine vinegar and olive oil .....until my dad took me to the Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy and I got to try my first Sausage and Pepper Hero which was true heaven ... I'm in Arizona now and these Hicks actually put mayo on an Italian Sub ...what a nightmare

I live in New Hampshire. You can't find a decent sub here like Massachusetts. Use to have a friend that owned a sub shop and loved the pepper and eggs!! I would buy them everything I got a sub!! He made the best ones. Everyone would laugh at me eating them all the time. Haven't had one in years. When I heard you making them I was excited!! Someone understands!!! Lol!!!

I LOVE Italian food. Growing up in the Bronx, NY and being surround by Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn allowed many options to choose from for authentic Italian food had me spoiled. Now living in the South there are a very limited amount of options for authentic Italian food. I stubbled on you guys channel and I happy that I did. I am going to attempt to make these wonderful subs. I came for the sausage and peppers, the Italian way and you guys did not disappoint 💪💪💪💪🙌🙌. The all look delicious!!! New Sub here.

pazzesco bene...awesome! NJ is divided on their terminology. Northern New Jersey as you get close to NYC they call them "subs", As you go south and get closer to Philly they call them "hoagies". Heroes are strictly NYC born. The term grinder is used mostly around New England, especially Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. A grinder in Philly is sub or hoagie that is toasted. The term hoagie is strictly from the jawn (Philly). Years ago the city of Philadelphia had a two ports and ship building industry. One of the yards was called "hog Island". Also a famous Revolutionary garrison was attacked by the British, the garrison was housed at place called Fort Mifflin The soldiers at Fort Mifflin were extremely outnumbered, yet they fought valiantly for nearly 6 weeks. It has been said that within one hour, 1000 cannonballs were fired at the fort. Finally on November 15, 1777, the surviving American soldiers were out of ammunition so they set the fort on fire and evacuated. This is where the present day Philadelphia Airport is. The address for the Fort Mifflin park is 6400 Hog Island Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19153. Back in the day that area was undeveloped and had no housing or infrastructure, just the shipyard. If you were a dock hand or shipwright and didn't pack a lunch that day, you went hungry. The Italian immigrants from South Philly found out about this and would load cold sandwiches on carts and take them to the shipyard to sell. As they arrived to docks they would announce their presence (in broken English) "hey Hoggies". The word mutated to the present day "hoagie". Growing up in Philly some of the very old Philadelphians would still call them "hoggie". Year ago you would say hoagie and someone would correct you "it's called a hoggie"! Here is a link that gives you details about Hog Island: americanhistory.si.edu/collections/nmah_844383#:~:text=Hog%20Island's%2050%20shipways%20stretched,yard%20employed%20around%2030%2C000%20workers. @@BrooklynBrothersCooking thank you for the video..keep them coming. Here's a interesting twist, during the Feast of San Gennaro feature the artisan cooks and the small shop vendors. Everybody knows about the best seller like pizza, pasta, calzones, gelato, and cheese and sausage and peppers. What about Zeppole, Cannoli, Braciole .The not so famous NYC Italian treasures. Also, how about at Christmas the Feast of the seven fishes. And the way Christmas is celebrated in the Italian community. Just some suggestions.
