How To Make Paper Earrings

Running With Sisters
This summer, Kitty’s go-to earrings are a pair made out of handmade paper. She loves how lightweight they are and that the ornate print goes with everything. It dawned on us that we could raid our scrapbook paper stash and make our own paper earrings in a flash! So we each picked out a piece of scrapbook paper with colorful swirls and flourishes and cut out little rectangles to turn into earrings. We decided we should seal the paper to give it extra shine and rigidity. So we got out the clear nail polish to use as a kind of “resin.” Worked like magic! Then we punched holes at the tops of the paper pieces and dangled them from earring wires. Of course we couldn’t resist adding little bee charms to give them a little playful touch!
Aren’t you amazed that you can turn paper into earrings?! We are! And we can’t wait to make a whole bunch with girlfriends just as soon as we can get together again. Every pair will be unique! Let us know if you make a pair of paper earrings. We’d love to know how it goes!

I have been beading since I was 9 and I will be 57 next month. I had my own boutique in the 80s just in the summer time at the Jersey shore. The last 5 yrs I have gotten into making my own cards also all on my own without KZfaq videos. I have followed the lead of the Papyrus cards and when my mom opened a recent card she said, oh Becky don't spend your money on these. I told her to check out the price on the back because it was my new rubber stamp with my logo. But, recently I bought a huge charm pack from Michael's that was normally $30 and after all the coupons and awards and even my senior discount it came to $5. There are some lovely simple designs that woukd be great for your earrings. I run out of bead designs in my head and this is a wonderful refreshing idea. I have a mini heart punch too so I believe I can do the same. I didnt notice the nail polish you use. I was leery about the Dollar Tree because cheap may make it turn yellow later on. How fun to make such fancy cards! Mini heart paper earrings sound lovely. If you are concerned about the nail polish turning yellow, you can try using Mod Podge. Let us know if you try that or something else. We'd love to hear your results! Jennifer & Kitty

I made some from coloured plastic but they slip tru the ring ..does that happen with paper?
