How To Make PAROL. Filipino Christmas Lantern. Parol DIY. Christmas Parol. Buhay Amerika
Christmas parol, also known and the Christmas lantern, is a traditional Filipino symbol of the star of Bethlehem. It is the most recgnized Christmas symbol of faith and hope in the Philippines.
The Christmas parol is considered the greatest expression of the Christmas spirit in the Philippines. It signals the beginning of the Christmas season for the country. What is a Christmas parol? In the Filipino language, the word parol means lantern. The traditional parol is a five point star-shaped Christmas lantern which has been a time-honoured Christmas symbol in the Philippines.
Growing up, Parol making was part of my childhood and family Christmas tradition. My father would construct the Parol frame from bamboo. My mother would be the one cutting tissue paper for the panels. My sister and I would help I'm putting it all together.
In this video I will show you how I fabricated our traditional Filipino Christmas Parol/lantern. I used bamboo stake, tissue paper and basic glue to put this Filipino Christmas symbol together.

Beautiful. I will make this next year. Watching you from Vegas. Happy Holiday. Keep safe. I made one this year, using the same bamboo stick ( use for my gardening) looks nice but I like something bulky not flat...so next time I will use your procedures. Thank you . I subscribe too . You deserve it with that extra effort.

Thank you for sharing your skills in making this parol. One question, where did you get your hole puncher and your bamboo stakes?
@ACORNHILL

Many thanks for your kind comment. The bamboo I got from a garden center. They’re used as plant stakes. The puncher I got from a craft store. They come in many varieties nowadays. Best is also to purchase them from a reputable online source like Amazon and the like. Thanks for chiming in and welcome to Acorn Hill 😄

Hi there. I got my 6-foot bamboo stakes from my local big box store/hardware store. It comes in a package of 6 sturdy 6-ft long pieces. For $6.99. Very good buy. Amazon carries some I am sure. Thanks for dropping by. Hope you’d consider subscribing as well. Keep safe 😀

Pardon sa delay in replying po. Hindi ko ginamitan ng plastic ang Parol On the video. I used tissue paper or papel de Japon. If your interested in using plastic, cellophane wrappers would be the way to go. Hope this helps and thanks for checking out my channel. Looking forward to your continued viewership

I'd love to make a parol for my mum! I noticed your bamboo seemed to be split in half though, how do you do this?
@ACORNHILL
@ACORNHILL 3 жыл бұрын
It’s was fairly easy to do. With a sharp craft knife, I split the canes by gently tapping the knife through the diameter/ width of the bamboo stake. It only took me an average of 5 minutes along the length of each 2-foot piece of bamboo stake. Then I soaked/submerged the split bamboo in a tub of water (completely covering the stakes). This allowed for the bamboo to be malleable and easy to bend and shape. Hope this helps and I hope you get to make bamboo for your mum. Tag or let me know how it works out! 🙋🏻‍♂️
