How to Make Personal Size Planner Dividers with Cricut Explore

This is a tutorial I've been dying to make and just now found the time to finish it up! I hope this is helpful for you if you're wanting to make 'perfect' dividers for your planner. You can size this to however you'd like - I created personal size dividers but simply change the dimensions to A5 or pocket and you're good to go! You can also add more or less dividers to this as well. Simply make it your own!

Omg this video was exactly what I needed. I have watched several others attempt to explain how to make dividers and I had to cut them off because of how confusing they were. Simply AMAZING instructions. You just saved me from spending $150 on a total of 6 die cuts sets. I wasnt able to find a clearly demonstrated how to video for the Cricut on this.

What are the correct dimensions for a standard traveler? I am doing exactly what you are doing in the video, but, when I cut my dividers out for a standard, it comes out 3.75 x 8.25, even though it says on my width on cricut design it says 4.375 x 8.25. Do not know what I am doing wrong! I ended up having to put the width as 5.1" and leaving the height the same, at 8.25" and that seemed to work. Do not know why when I put in the correct dimensions it cut the paper shorter in width. But , now I have it saved in cricut design and will not have to stay up all hours of the night figuring it out!! Thanks again

I would like to say thank you and I love your video you are precise and easy to follow, at first i was going losing it because i was like oooow she talking fast but i had to slow it waaaay down ; lol but i got it, thank you so much...QUESTION: did you laminate the papers before you cut them out and if so are they the same on both sides or just the front side is color and the back is plain?

+Lizbutterfly I am not sure what the size of the A5 or Happy Planner are off the top of my head (sorry!) but I'm sure a quick google search will help you + plus you can test it out on some scrap paper (or even like an old magazine cover!) to see if you've gotten the sizing right! Hope that helps a little!

Hi Moe, I first learned how to create divider tabs on my cricut from you. I love it. I recently made some and actually had my cricut to write the titles on each tab before cutting them out and it looks so professional. After it wrote the titles, and cut them, I used scotch tape to protect the little tabs. Now I am trying to figure out how I can do the same thing, BUT laminate the dividers so they are more sturdy, but I can't figure out the process. I don't want to cut them with scissors, I want the cricut to do everything. I'm wondering if there's some way the sticker making technique where cricut scans your printout can work with this?? If you or any of your subscribers have any suggestions, please let me know. If we can figure this out, they will look store bought.

You can put a layer of transparent contact paper on them before cutting. Make sure though that it does not cover the registration marks because it scans incorrectly

laminated the paper first then put it on the mat. then make the offset slightly larger than what you want

@@c5689 Thanks. I made some the other day and I used clear printable sticker paper and did a print and cut, turned out great. The letters looked a tad dull. But I think that's because I flattened them.

My distribute vertically did not work. Even after saving the darn file! I had to move the big square away, then align to left all of them, then distribute vertically:) This is my GOTO video for planner dashboards!

Love this video. I am new to Cricut and really helps understand how to use Cricut. Can you also tell us how to cut laminated dashboards? I use my laminator to laminate the dashboards I cut out, and I am sure there is an easy way to cut the laminated ones. But I just dont know how! TIA!

What I usually do is laminate the paper before and then have the cricut cut it out. You may have to choose a separate setting to cut deeper though. This only works if you're just cutting out a single piece of paper not creating a layered effect then laminating...hope that answers the question! Let me know if it doesn't lol

I have been following along with the video, but I am stuck at how long the tab sticks out from the page. I entered the same numbers you used, but the placement does not match up.

I just sort of guessed at how far I wanted the tabs to stick out. You can play around with that in the program before you weld your two shapes together. I just eyeballed it..hope that helps with your question. Its all up to you how far you want the tabs to stick out.

Hey there! What new info are you looking for? I don't think I quite understand your request. I will usually run an empty laminating pouch through my laminator and that will create a clear piece of plastic to use. Then put that on my mat and cut. I'd be glad to brainstorm a new video though. Well I hope this makes sense. I want to do the divider pages that are transparent or clear, that way I can see what's on the left page and the right page. But I also want text written on the tabs of these clear pages. Pretty much all the tutorials I am finding people are cutting around the tab portion with scissors and unfortunately I'm don't do a good job at it it ends up looking tacky. So I'm trying to figure out how to have text written on my tabs with print cut using my crucut or some other option.. I have been trying to do this using laminating sheets but I don't know if there's other options too.

I use the original Cricut Explore. This was back before the Explore Air, Explore One, etc. All of the explore models are similar - they have the same functions. I believe the newer models cut faster though.

You can write on them with a marker after you've cut them. This isn't a print then cut project, however if you just type your text then position it on the tab the way you'd like, then group and flatten each shape you can turn this into a print then cut project as long as you're not going over the print the cut area boundaries. Hope that helps.

Sorry to bother you but do you know how I would make these divider pages with overlapping tabs, I like them to slightly overlap "evenly spaced". I am in design space and can't figure out how to evenly overlap 6 tabs on a divider page. I called Cricut, but I don't think they knew what I meant. They are going to call me back, but I figured out in the meantime I would ask.

Yes! There should be a feature under align I think that says something like ‘space horizontally’. So just use however many tabs you’d like and if you click ‘space horizontally’ they will be evenly spaced but over lapped. Hope that helps!

Hmmm design space should be the same across all machines, but let’s try one more thing - select all of the shapes you want to space evenly, then select ‘align’ located in the top bar on your canvas, then find ‘distribute vertically’ (I said space originally, but it’s called distribute.). If you don’t have anything selected, the align section won’t show up. Hope that helps!
