@@amadeuscastor7510 ...of coarse not. Anybody who took bio 101 or micro 101 knows that it takes time for organics to decompose...especially egg shells. he needs to grind them up first into a powder...or add citric acid to release that Ca. This method is used by a lot of ppl...except it's used to prep gardens. You make this, put in into the ground, cover, wait 2 to 3 months...then plant. Also, he forgot to add coffee grinds. Which makes it your basic NPK fertilizer...

I always use egg shells to grow my plants. And then once they start growing I just put the egg in the ground and cover it with dirt. Always get the biggest veggies from it. Will definitely be trying the bananas.
@Dave_en Жыл бұрын
Bananas have more potash than other organic fertilizers. You can make universal compost by mixing all kitchen waste with soil and let it rott in a bin. After 3 months, everything looks like dark soil which you can keep in the sun for removing bad bacteria and pests. Then apply around the roots of your plants. Bananas, egg shells, vegetable peels, spent tea leaves etc together gives you npk, humic acid and lot other macro and micro nutrients to the soil.

I think we should recycle all our kitchen waste into our garden. If we could not use something, atleast plants can benefit from it. That would also save money spent on expensive fertilizers.

Great hack as these ingredients will provide potassium and calcium good for flowering. Although I would suggest drying out banana first as adding wet, mushy banana near the roots could bring root rot and microbial action on plant thus harming it Also, grinding egg shells separately will give finer dry powder. Note: egg shells take a long long long time to decompose and roots cannot absorb such large chunks! All the best for a good garden! Keep planting 😊
@chazzlycurrie3334 ай бұрын
Those are good tips thank you! Can I use old avacado instead of bananas?

@beverlycharles6534Ай бұрын
As far as vitamins from egg shells being available for absorption --- does it make a difference in how fine they are gound up? I dry out my egg shells and then grind them up finely I heard if you don't grind them they are not available for months but thought if ground up the finer powder is available within a couple weeks.
@nirbhaydhote3706Ай бұрын
@@beverlycharles6534 certainly there is traces of magnesium and phosphates too in egg shell but over 95% of it is calcium carbonate. Although the plants need calcium but calcium carbonate is very very slightly soluble in water which means chunks of it are left in soil as is unless it is decomposed in soil that could take a very very long time compared to the flowering frequency of plants. Given that plants absorb nutrients either soluble in water or if the size of particles are very less it can still be sucked in by roots. Thus I powder it for plants to take it in easy and then break it down internally. Even for decomposition it is an advantage to have powdered form as it only gives microbes more surface area to decompose. I hope this explanation helps although I am still trying to learn more each day. PS: pardon my English - I am not a native speaker
@FindpypeАй бұрын
I was thinking these exact same things. I’d also sprinkle a bit of soil between the mix and the roots. Air frying or baking egg shells and bones before blending it is the best way to do that. Homemade bone meal!
