A clever way to use the shattered pieces of the Ruperts Drop. Watched the drops being made and always thought it would take a lot of mistakes before you'd get a perfect one. They are so delicate. The earings would look great as Christmas Baubles on a small Christmas tree.

Another very cool video. You can also make Prince Rupert’s drops from uv resin dropped in dish washing liquid and you can use coloured uv resin also.

Beautiful !! Just an idea for the KR drops, just use a longer cup or even a bottle to add distance from the top, and perhaps put rubber pad at the bottom to absorb the energy instead of reflect it back to the drop.

The drop does not shatter when touching the bottom. Only by high stress

@@jedrek29t It's the change of temperature. It has to get very hot to melt glass, even a glass tube isn't a good candidate if truly trying to melt glass. Going from hot enough to melt and then away from the heat into water is why it shattered. I have had it happen with a bench torch and rods of glass, just because my temperature was kept even while turning the rod. Also it sometimes happens later in your kiln if the time, temperature level isn't set correctly.😢 Melted glass has to cool very slowly. Love your experiment and the results are beautiful. Nice job as always 😊

1:10-1:16, is a perfect example of how the titan sub imploded, due to water pressure change except in this case it was due to heat and change in water temperature, seeing the glass break, just brought up the similarity Rip 😢..,.......but also amazing work, glass blowing can be hard, if its not done right the glass can be super weak, one fail, leads to a success, the end result was amazing.

I wonder if you put a sponge in the bottom of the cup you drop the glass in if there would be less of a chance of it breaking when trying to form, maybe give it a softer landing?
