My notes on his chord design. Distilling the focal points and abstracting in spaces that should be shaped personally. Thank you for lending us your ear Julien! You certainly have an amazing skill! "A minor triad > sawtooth > low pass filtered low and modulated by LFO and plucky envelope > bandpass modulated by LFO > character compression > modulation/spatial FX > complex delay network > short reverb > glue compression > hi pass to remove rumble/mud."

Flynn Hanbury Tenison there are thousands of that .... Nothing especially - but i think he is a ,,easy to following"- teacher for me. ;-) but there a some ways to make dub chords in ableton . some technics with or with out resonators, ping pong, tape delay?, simpledelay ..... Send/return ! !

Quality tutorial as always great job. Just i wanted to add that you can have really great sound by using the LFO of max live wich offer great opportunity of midi automation. Like delay auto filtrer, wich imo is better than the lfo of the analog synth of ableton.

Always enjoying your videos man... Question, how would you go about bouncing clips to audio so that you don't lose lots of sound manipulation flexibility?... My question is about preparing a liveset with, say, 20 songs... Because when you convert to audio you tend to lose for example, that richness of a LPF on the brass track... You know where Im coming from?... thx a lot man

The Volca Beats and the Volca Kick also make great sources for kickdrums for this style ... it does not have to be 808 or 909 all the time :)

Its defin. Dub techno , i think it ISNT possible to sound like basic channel with ableton ! Its possible to get closest, but it never sounds like modular/analog ,,dub techno" ... Its much better with external FX and ableton as signalsource but with ableton 9 it isnt like the analog ,,noise" . would like to hear a full dubby track ;-) would be great . i will try ur tutorial too, sounds good to me (but i recognized the chords&reverb in ableton sounds, a bit boring/steril/linear - idk y)

you can sound however you want with ableton if you're skilled enough. Analog noise is super easy to replicate

@@some.person I think the point is not that it's impossible to get analog sound with a software, but more that it's really hard. And only coming quite close to it (like most artsists will do) is simply not the same.. so analog can really be a good choice.

Millennials start at 1981/2 unsure of the impression it makes considering the timeline kinda matches up? Basic Channel isn’t what I would consider underground in terms of how popular they are w regard to their impact on techno and dance music as a whole.
