How to make rainbow shoes with sharpie

I bought these shoes at Walmart. I have also done them on old converse. I apply the marker, then the rubbing alcohol (mine was 90%), then let them dry completely before washing. I washed mine in the sink with dish soap and dried in the dryer. They do transfer to your socks a little bit at first if they get wet, so be aware. Have fun!!

I read through a lot of comments and found the washing answer. She washed them in the sink with dish detergent then dried in the dryer. I was curious about this and saw a few others were too. Cannot wait to make them!!

Wow great idea!🎉 the rubbing alcohol acts as a solvent to run the colors (Fyi I always used rubbing alcohol to clean off sharpie ink on most hard surfaces if I wanted to erase something I wrote, or my kids mistaken sharpie permanent marker for dry eraser marker on our white board. Its somewhat effective at taking permanent marker off of clothes if it isnt too saturated with the ink and you pour the alcohol in a dishpan and soak the stains area in it for a few minutes. Be sure the clothes are colorfast.

Sharpies are permanent ink. It may fade a bit in the wash but it won’t come out. Cold water, alone, air dry has worked for me.

Yes! I made some in a similar manner about 10 years ago. I bought some fake leather white moccasins (from Walmart) and decorated them with paint pens. They were awesome! Yours are also!

You can do this technique on fabric like an old sheet to just play around and have fun with it!

@@Andrea-Nelson-Art Do you think it would wash out if you did it on a ‘regular’ piece of laundry? Meaning a shirt (that would need washed regularly) VS something like shoes (that never get washed)
